We were put up here by Viking cruises when our boat was delayed a day at Passau, Germany. We were given a room right away and found it to be very nice, very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the spa pool, steam room and outdoor pool. Spa area also has saunas (which are clothing optional) and solarium. Our meals were buffet... More

My husband and I were lucky to spend the night in this very nice hotel. The Viking Cruise we were scheduled on was delayed a day, for repairs on the ship, so the company put us up here. The hotel did a nice job accommodating all of the Viking passengers, although the buffet dinner was crowded. To the hotel's defense,... More

We stayed here for two nights when our Viking river cruise was cut short due to engine failure. The check-in was chaotic with 180 guests arriving at once and no-one on hand to help the less able. Those who went to sit in the easy chairs in the reception area were told by hotel staff not to sit as they... More

Great spot if you find yourself in this area. For North Americans it is a good opportunity to experience a German bad. Not inexpensive but the rooms are beautiful and the service is excellent. The breakfast is great especially the bread and the egg bar. Dinner is deliberately slow so you will not feel rushed in any way.

We stayed here for two nights when our river cruise was stranded in Vienna due to lock damage in June 2013. The rooms are quite spacious, and beds are comfortable; but the weather was hot, and rooms have no A/C, so it was stuffy. Left doors open onto courtyard, and it finally cooled down by morning. Our room had been... More

The hotel is located in what seems like its own little town, with bar, other hotels and restaurants. There is underground allocated parking with lift access to all floors. Staff were very friendly and helpful when needed, good selection for breakfast and the option of sitting outdoors. The rooms are big and modern as is the bathrooms. No air con... More

We spent two nights there because our river cruise got diverted there because of the recent flooding. The complex is big but at the Maximilian Hotel there is no A/C. We were there when temps were in the high 90's to 100 and it was hot. Went down to the restaurant and there was very little air and in one... More

First of all, this is not a 5-star hotel. It is only a 2-star in our opinion. The rooms are tired and could use updating. Service at the main desk was abominable. There was always a wait, and the staff were abrupt and non-responsive. Most egregious, is that when you call the main desk, you always get a recording and... More

Maximilian is the flagship of all hotels in Bad Griesbach, 5 star, very nice location. They have an inhouse spa, one outside pool and one inside (Thermalbad), sauna, ice room, very nice. I was used to stay here some years ago due to business reasons and came back now for a short weekend stay with family. Most of the rooms... More
