We visited Meersburg at Thanksgiving (in the US) and enjoyed a wonderful meal just across the Lane from the Hotel- pls see the picture. Knowing our dinner would run after 8pm and that he and his family would be out, the hotel owner GAVE US THE KEY TO THE FRONT DOOR OF THE HOTEL so we could get in when... more

Meersburg is a charming little town on Lake Constance that is nearly a postcard version of what you might imagine a German town to look like. Germans themselves love to go on holiday here, so that should tell you something. The hotel is situated just on the perimeter of the old town, so its very easy to access by car.... more

Excellent location and very friendly service. Our room was ok, but could have been better I think. I'm sure there are better rooms in the hotel, but because we needed a supplementary bed I feel we ended up with one of the less attractive ones. One slight disappointment was breakfast - far and away the least generous we had on... more

We chose the hotel because of the picture, we had no idea what any of the hotels were like in Meersburg. It is toward the top of the hill the city sits on so the storm that trashed the town did minor damage to the Hotel zum Baeren, it was the planters that took the brunt of the storm. We... more

We had 4 nights in this hotel and could not fault it. We booked the hotel through their website and chose the room we wanted to stay in. We had the turret room no. 23 on the top floor, a very large room with a table and 2 comfortable chairs in the turret. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and had... more

The hotel is clean and friendly. A family owned and they are all there to help you. The food is good and also the location. The town is really nice. The only thing that misses is an elevator. I was there with my 83 years old father in law, a lot of luggage and kids and it was not that... more

What a great find. This wonderful old hotel inside the walls of Meersburg was a perfect place to stay. The only problem for us was that their restaurant was closed on the two days we were there (Monday and Tuesday), so we were only able to have breakfast. The staff were so helpful and friendly, the room was charmingly furnished... more

Landed in Zurich and took a beatiful ride through for about 90 mins to Meersburg. Once at the hotel, had a great experience checking in and getting our car situated . I recommend using their car park as local parking is a bit dicey. We had 2 rooms. One overlooked the main street and the the view was spectacular. The... more

A great hotel in a beautiful lakeside setting. The staff is lovely and the food is excellent! Rates and restaurant prices are reasonable and the owner is always available on premises. You will not be sorry staying at the oldest hotel in Germany. more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gasthof zum Baren. Comfortable room, good bathroom, very good breakfast and garage parking. We also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant the two nights we stayed at the hotel. No need to go anywhere else to eat. It's very popular so you need to book a table. We liked Meersburg, lovely little town, lots of places to visit... more
