This hotel was delightful. It exactly met my expectations regarding an Old World hotel in Germany. It had the look but it was also modern and completely up-to-date. Our bedroom was gorgeous with the canopy bed. The biggest surprise was that the chef is a Master Chef and the food was the best that I had anywhere in Germany. I... More

Hotel Obere Linde is close to perfect. My room was very large, with a comfortable sitting area as well as twin beds, and a lovely view onto the garden at the back of the hotel. Free wifi was provided. A Guest card provided free local transport, and various other discounts were available. I enjoyed dinner on three nights, with an... More

This is a review of the hotel restaurant only. The Obere Linde finds exactly the right balance between formal and relaxed dining. On the terrace during the recent hot weather we could not have been better pleased with the service, food quality and ambience, and the cost is surprisingly moderate (for British visitors). Our favourite eating place in the area.... More

I had to break away from our travel team in Paris and had to visit the Obere Linde in Oberkirch! I love the family Hechler - there committment to creating memorible guest experinces is second to none! The luncheon that was created by Chef Hechler and his team was esquisit in every aspect - a true master of his craft,... More

Our first night in Germany was at this very lovely hotel in Oberkirch. Obere Linde is beyond beautiful inside and out. Very traditional German architecture, gorgeous woodwork and decor, very German cleanliness abounds, great attention to detail. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room (and bathroom) on the second floor was large and bright with lots... More

Hard to criticise anything in this very well kept, friendly and comfortable hotel. The breakfast now includes some hot(ish) choices and the kitchen can knock out an excellent dinner for 20. If four poster beds are not to your taste, I'm not sure there are rooms without one. I had to twist an arm to get wifi for more than... More

what a wonderful way to finish our last two days in Germany - Family Hechler is the epitome of customer service, so pleasant to each and every guest. It's very refreshing not to mention the dining experiences - outstanding! we see you soon

This review is of the restaurant only; we didn't stay overnight. The restaurant is quite wonderful, and not hugely expensive. Immaculate service, pleasant and well-organised outdoor seating if the weather suits that, excellent choice of local and other wine. I can't speak too highly of this place. The ambience is a little more informal at weekends, but we were delighted... More

For visitors to Germany this is a unique experience. The hotel comprises two historical half-timbered buildings that have been partially renovated and exude a very special charm. The hotel is located in the main street of Oberkirch, a small town at the foothills of the Black Forest. From here you can easily explore the surrounding area, for instance to go... More

As a former pastry chef attached at the hip to an executive chef, we travel mainly to satisfy our largely unquenchable culinary cravings. That being said, I am still haunted by the dinner we experienced at the Obere Linde Hotel and Restaurant in Oberkirch, Germany. I assure you my meals at Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck, Thomas Keller’s French Laundry, and... More
