We went there 2 days in a row with 2 groups of about 20 people. The owners, especially the owners daughter Kristin which was in charge for the group, were super friendly and extremly helpful. The food was fantastic and the venue is very nice. Thanks for having us there. About the rooms I can't anything as we only had... More

We dined here (and reviewed the restaurant) in 2013 and decided to come back to stay at some point. We did this on 22nd June 2015, staying for 3 nights. Our review of the restaurant gave it faultless marks and I have to add that the hotel did not alter our opinion at all. The peace & tranquility of the... More

Imagine ... a day when the weather cannot decide if it wants to sleet or rain making it far from a perfect day to hike, snowshoe or ski ... so the only activity is to fall into a traditional Black Forest restaurant for a very long lunch. Having stumbled across the Hotel Spielweg the staff were kind enough to shuffle... More

We wanted a traditional hotel in the Black Forest and that's what we got. Our rooms was large and well appointed. The staff were friendly and informative. There was an adjoining spa and swimming pool which we had to ourselves in the morning. The restaurant was very good. Breakfast we enjoyed outside on the sunny terrace. Signposted walks in the... Maybe our expectations were too high or we stayed on a bad day but our overall experience can be best described as mwahh. Lovely location and a nice outside terrace where you enjoy a nice glass of sekt and/or a meal. The room is small and the bathroom is very small certainly when you are 6.10 ft. The beds are... More

Further to good reviews on this site we choose this hotel and what a good choice! Perfect hotel for families with the outside playground and the huge play area in the hotel: our girls just want to go back to this hotel! The service is fantastic, nothing is too much; from the outside terrace to a bottle of sekt in... More

We stayed here for 8 days. The location is perfect to get away from it all, but you may need a car if you wish to see more of the area without relying on buses/trains to get you around. Mr Carl Josef Fuchs, the hotel owner, is a world-renowned chef who prepares lovely dinners every night with fresh and original... More

Don't expect an exciting night life or cosmopolitan action. Rather, this charming hotel run by the same family for over 100 years is set in the natural beauty of Southern Germany, surrounded by high hills (equivalent to Smokey Mountain high). Great local food prepared by professional team, indoor and outdoor pool, spa and miles of walking trails. The Fuchs family... More

This old family heritage is amazing: traditional grace with the best of what the world can offer as hospitality. In the middle of the German mountains, woods and grace lands! The dishes of chef Franz-Jozef are a surprise as much as they are delight. No low budget lodging, but diamond value compared to the magnitude of 5 star hotels -... More

We found this hotel as we wanted somewhere convenient to go hiking in the Black Forest. We were upgraded to the new wing and the rooms were spacious and clean. We had a lovely view overing the river which was a little loud during the night. The restaurant was fantastic! Local and in season items were on the menu. We... More
