We were in the Dusseldorf/Cologne area during the ANUGA, the largest international food trade fair and all hotels were fully booked. We found this hotel through a travel website and it had a reasonable rate and good reviews. It happened to be located in the middle of a warm, historic centre of Velbert-Langenberg - which by itself is worth a visit. From the outside, the hotel hardly suggests anything special than being 150+ old and normally, you'd expect the inside to be not very much younger. Not the case here. The inside looks old but feels very warm and carefully maintained. No smell of old carpets or moisture and everything looks and feels clean. The rooms are equipped with modern sanitary facilities and furniture (the beds are partucularly comfortable!) and have been renovated recently. The hotel staff are by far the friendliest and most hospitable I have come across in my travels!
