Within one hour of arriving at Hugh and Jane's charming Quinta, I knew I would want to return in the not so distant future. By the end of the day my three young daughters had throughly made themselves at home. Wobble, Lottie, zero and KitKat (the resident pets) are still being discussed in great detail one week on. Extremely child... More

Stayed for three nights in September. Hugh and Jane couldn't have been more welcoming. The suite was beautiful and we were made to feel like welcome friends. The evening meal was more of a dinner party with Hugh and Jane and two other guests. It started with an aperitif and snacks, and was followed by a lovely three course meal,... More

Spent the last two nights of our holiday in this lovely quinta (restored farmhouse) to relax before going back home. Booked this B&B based on the reviews on Tripadvisor and The Lonely Planet. We must say every single one of the reviews we've read are true! Everything was wonderfull over here: the quinta itself, the land they own surrounding the... More

Very pleasant, took a personal interest in our holiday plans, good local knowledge. Sent us off with a cold pack our first day day, umbrellas and towels the next day. Thought of the little things. Rooms were very comfortable and the renovations beautiful. Dinner with them was very good and a good value. The kids loved the two dogs and... More

Sometimes when traveling we've happened across a place where we decide we will always stay there when we visit again: we have a convent in Rome that has earned this singular distinction. On our recent visit to Portugal, not only did we find another such place, but one that has us wanting to return specifically to visit them. Hugh and... More

I am ambivalent about writing this review. On the one hand Hugh and Jane deserve a praising review. On the other hand there are some places so special that you want to keep them to yourself lest there e no room the next time you travel. But I will go with just deserts. Simply put, this place is special. My... More

Accommodating 11 adults, 13 kids and 2 dogs is a test for any Quinta! That many people will reveal any flaws in the operations and I am happy to report that Hugh and Jan were flawless. They provided the whole lot of us with a weekend that was rich and memorable. They did so much more than just welcome us... More

It is a charming place in the middle of nowhere but with great roads to move around all the area, it makes an excellent base to travel and even to rest when you fill like it , you feel at home while you read your favorite book with a beautiful country view. The breakfasts where delicious with plenty of fresh... More

Hugh and Jane provided a full bore family feel on their amazing Quinta. Their knowledge of the nature, the land, their enthusiasm for life, coupled with Hugh's engineering skills and Janes brilliant use of land produced products make this a must see experience. Oh, forgot to mention, Hugh's own produced wine, free with every meal, along with his port is... More

Stayed here with my three teenage kids during the harvest last October. We were lucky to be there on one of the "picking days" and had so much fun. We stayed in the large room/suite on the top floor and really enjoyed the space. Eating with the other guests and the owners was a highlight - great food and company.... More
