It is a charming place in the middle of nowhere but with great roads to move around all the area, it makes an excellent base to travel and even to rest when you fill like it , you feel at home while you read your favorite book with a beautiful country view. The breakfasts where delicious with plenty of fresh... More

Hugh and Jane provided a full bore family feel on their amazing Quinta. Their knowledge of the nature, the land, their enthusiasm for life, coupled with Hugh's engineering skills and Janes brilliant use of land produced products make this a must see experience. Oh, forgot to mention, Hugh's own produced wine, free with every meal, along with his port is... More

Stayed here with my three teenage kids during the harvest last October. We were lucky to be there on one of the "picking days" and had so much fun. We stayed in the large room/suite on the top floor and really enjoyed the space. Eating with the other guests and the owners was a highlight - great food and company.... More

Staying at Quinta dos Tres Rios means getting to know Hugh and Jane Forestier-Walker, who are the finest hosts you can imagine meeting. They make the experience memorable. A stay here is well worth going out of your way, which we certainly did driving from Santiago de Compostela to Zamora. Thank you TripAdvisor for pointing us in this direction! Jane's... More

We thank you for your lovely comments. We do hope you will come back and visit us again soon. We have so many more places to send you off to. The two days with us were just not long enough! We are now picking Olives like mad; it looks like we will have some great Olive oil this year. We... More

We've been traveling in Portugal for 3 weeks and our stay with Hugh and Jane has been one of the highlights of our trip. We really enjoyed visiting at dinner with the eclectic combination of guests, guest workers and visitors; maybe a dozen in total. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. The food and wine is excellent. Rooms are large,... More

10 days of magic! we have visited before and this time, with more time we were able to visit the cork factory and the barrel makers, not to be missed visits. A trip up the mountain - the first time I have driven in Portugal - to the Bread Museum to stock up on their wonderful spiced salt. Higher up... More

We left with the promise to come back, such place and people are unforgettable. We went on a week holiday early September 2013, decision mainly based on Trip advisor’s excellent costumer reviews. And what a good decision that was! Jane and Hugh surely rank amongst the best hosts we’ve ever been with. The dogs and cats are no different. Great... More

We stayed two nights in this beautiful quinta. The accomodation and its surroundings are superb: an old Portuguese , restored with love, a large terrace with a panoramic view over the hills and the river below, it was all overwhelming. The hosts Hugh and Jane do everything for you to feel you comfortable, pour out their home made wines and... More

These persons have stopped with there business is fish smoking but are still smoking hot. I was a bit hesitant, a Brit making wine but was presently surprised. Definitely the best place we stayed in during our two weeks in Portugal.

July 25, 2013 - was the best evening and experience we had during our 3 week exploration of Portugal. Hugh, Jane, and daughter Caroline are amazing hosts, entertainers, and cooks! Very informed, paying attention to detail to make the evening perfect in every way! The property, including historic building converted to Inn is breathtaking. Sitting on a hillside patio overlooking... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This magnificent Quinta (farmhouse) was built by an Englishman in the late 1800s. The house is built of fine granite, partly into a terrace. The high ceilings on the ground floor at over 4 meters keep the house cool even on the hottest of days. The original features have been retained in a beautifully authentic restoration. The 3 suites located in the top of the house incorporate the original pine beams, giving a true "wow" factor. We have our own working winery and take wine tours to the Dao and Duro wine regions. ... more   less
