We booked a Fraser Island package through Wicked Travel which included 2 nights here. The actual hostel in Hervey Bay is ok. It's well arranged in that there are lots of blocks with their own bedrooms, kitchen, living space, toilets and showers. The kitchen isn't well equipped at all, we barely had a knife and fork to rub together. Staff... More

I think Fraser Island is one of the better things I've done I Australia but it wasn't worth the money you pay for it. For $475 you got to see a few lakes and drive on the beach and see a couple nice lookouts. The campsites were minimal and you sleep on the ground. There are no toilets at your... More

It's far from the city centre, but close to the beach. They picked us up from bus transit, which was very nice. The rooms are big, but empty as well. The kitchen in block was shared with 5 other rooms, there we also 3 showers and toilets- I didn't experience any queuing to the facilities.

Highlights: The place- one of the most beautiful and sceneic on earth! Freshwater lakes on a sand island. Dingoes, whales (we saw a spout!), lizards, rainbow sands and the maheno shipwreck. Champagne pools was my fave. The weather - Australian 'winter' and we could still swim! The people - met some people on this trip that I hope will be... More

My sister and I booked our Fraser Island trip through Palace Adventures and it was without doubt the best trip of our holiday, I had done one previously with another company that didn't even compare!! This one was so well run, our guide Tony was absolutely amazing and really made the trip for everyone. It helped that we had a... More

Having a doubt beetween Palace and Dropbear to do the Fraser Island 4x4 tour, we have been told by a bad travel agency that Palace was better. Turns out it was more expensive and really not as good as they told us. Whereas Dropbear, with Palace you have to buy and cook your own meal and prepare your own sandwich... More

Stayed 2 nights, accommodation is unit style, we had a private room but adjacent rooms were dorms. Only 1 bathroom and 1 toilet to share. Bathroom shower was unsafe, glass sliding door old and did not slide properly, so water on the very slippery tile when coming out of shower. I would suggest you have units only for couples and... Firstly, I have no idea why Palace only has 54% - we had an amazing stay here! The staff were the most friendly and enthusiastic people possible, they could not do enough to help you with absolutely anything, nothing was too much trouble. The apartment blocks or 'units' are made up of 6 rooms, so it makes a friendly atmosphere... More

Hi guys, We booked our Fraser Island tour through this company and it is the best thing we could've done. We went to Fraser with our tour guide, Dusty, and I wouldn't bother going unless he is your guide. He is originally from the island and his passion is unbeatable. The stories and locations Dusty takes you to are amazing.... More

Hervey Bay is a usual jumping on and off point for Fraser Island Tours. Palace Backpackers is a great place to stay when passing through. The staff are really friendly and do their best to make your stay a great one. There is a free shuttle into town and pick up/drop off for travellers arriving on the Greyhound. The rooms... More
