Were on our way back to a B&B in Colinsburgh looking for somewhere to eat for an evening meal. Popped into The Golf Hotel in Crail but apparently due to their eating area being reduced in size we'd have to wait a further hour or so till a table might become available but could wait in the bar. There was... More

We had a lovely dinner here one Saturday evening, the staff were friendly, the food was excellent . We had 3 courses each. And everything was cooked to perfection. All the food is sourced very close to the restaurant , which is nice.

Pleasant small bar, slightly spoiled by employees' belongings, jacket, bags etc lying along bench seat and the very pleasant waitress sitting opposite me while I ate. Latte very good as was Cullen Skink but the portion was rather small - small oatmeal bowl.

We had a dinner here on a Friday night and it was very nice. Starters of Cullen Skink and haggis fritters were really tasty. We both had the steak and ale pie and it was absolutely delicious. The desert was OK - about average. Nice experience. Didn't get an excellence as the decor could use an upgrade, but other then... More

We weren't expecting a lot so we were massively disappointed. Our meal was ok - hot smoked salmon on a bed of salad with some potatoes. Terrine to start which again was Ok but not great. Staff were friendly .

We've always tried to keep an open mind when we read the reviews (we post a lot ourselves!) and I'm very glad we did! The first few for The Barns sounded so poor that even although we'd taken a house in Kingsbarns for the week we nearly headed into St Andrews to eat! What a pleasant surprise. The interior was... We recently visited Crail for their Festival 2013 and decided to have a meal at The Barns in Kingsbarns. The meal ordered was, in our opinion, well below the standard expected and we decided to email/write to them to outline our displeasure. To date they have not responded to our letter/email, so we now submit a copy of our email... More

Excellent waiting staff but poor manners & etiquette on male manager, bar dirty with grubby seating but locals and lady behind bar great and really friendly. Only stopped for meal and drinks as were staying in B&B down from pub

We called in here on spec haven driven past a few times we thought it looked like a nice cosy pub. We wanted an early evening meal. On entering the first thing I noticed was an overwhelming smell of cheap air freshener which was really off putting but we decided to give it a go. We were told only one... More

We heard on the radio the advert for Sunday lunch , and thought worth a try . We would have been better carrying on to St Andrews or Crail . Service was by a young girl , who should have been getting guidance as frankly she did not know what she was doing . The three meals ordered were very... More
