Visited the Alp'Hotel in September when most places were shut, so no real choice. We were very pleasantly surprised by the charming friendly staff,. Our room although large, with south-facing balcony was clean but in need of some refurb work, as was the bathroom. However the saving grace was the food. We had opted for the half-board option and the breakfast was really excellent, the best we've had in France, and lots better than some hotels at twice the price. No hot food but a fresh orange-squeezing machine, lovely pastries and croissants and super conserves etc. First class.
The 3 course dinner was beautifully cooked and served in an obviously newly fitted dining room with some very unusual crockery, and again charming staff.
La Clusaz is very compact, lots of shops and bars/cafes, but mostly shut in September
