Independent ski holidays are never easy. Ok, so you've got the cheap flight, but then you need to look into the transfers and then there's the hotel. I was told I'd find it next to impossoble to get a transfer from Grenoble Airport to the ski resort of Alpe D'Huez. As for booking a hotel; I got even more ridiculous quotes and replies. I was beginning to wish I was able to join the hundreds of other holiday makers on their package holiday, which seem to depart on a Saturday or Sunday.
Alas; the transfer was easy; I landed in Grenoble at 13:10 and was in my hotel in Alpe D'Huez before 16:00. Nothing a little searching on the internet couldn't find out. And what a find the hotel was. I found it through the Alpe D'Huez website and contacted the hotel directly by e-mail. It is run by a very friendly couple, who do everything in their power to make your stay an enjoyable one. They speak a little english, but it's more fun to try and speak french with them anyway!
