A good hotel with great restaurant staff very willing to help if a little disorganised. Spa not great and unusable during some of our weeks stay. Rooms basic and bathrooms need an update. Painting tiles and a new shower curtain doesn't cut it! But we weren't looking for luxury it's a base for skiing so was fine. Very noisy at... More

We (an Enlish family of four) stayed in this hotel for a week's skiing. The location cannot be bettered, with snow you can ski to the excellent boot room and the nearest lift is 10 metres from the door. The family room is good, decoration a little dated but with excellent heating and hot water (most important when skiing), a... More

The young staff seemed very friendly and professional, but there was an older man on reception, (who might possibly be a manager or owner) who was quite rude when I asked if he had an information sheet given to us in English. He was quite condescending and said no and how was I going to get on if I didn't... More

We have just arrived back from a family ski trip to Alp d'Huez staying at the Grandes Rousses hotel. We have three children ranging from 3-8 yrs so finding suitable accommodation can be difficult. This hotel was good as it has duplex apps/rooms which have a large double room, bathroom with a bath and separate WC and then stairs up... More

The hotel location is great, across from the public swimmingpool and walking distance to nearby shops and restaurants. The skilift is next to the hotel and when returning you'll be able to ski all the way up to the hotel, great!! Then the hotel it self, it is simple but you feel the positve vibe. The rooms are normal but... More

We had a duplex room for 4 adults which was in a tired condition compared to the hotel website. The room was not prepared for 4 adults and we needed to request extra slippers and dressing gowns. The bathroom had a curtain instead of a door which was rather uncomfortable when sharing. The spa facilities we very busy and the... More

We checked in to the hotel for a ski vacation over the Christmas holidays. As per the title, the staff here were welcoming and helpful from the moment we pulled up to the front of the hotel. Located in the ski village in Alpes d'Huez, the hotel is right beside the mini-gondola that takes you to the main intersection of... More

We stopped at Les Grand Rousses for on enight in August, en route from Geneva to Provence. The resort of L'Alpe d'Huez is a tired relic of the seventies, and Les Grand Rousses is no exception, with outdated rooms and decor, particularly the bathrooms. Tired it may be, but dirty it is not, with the owners and staff clearly taking... More

We stayed at this hotel during the Marmotte cycling sportif the first weekend in July. We booked late and therefore paid a higher than average price however it is in a fabulous location and our room had a very large balcony with the most amazing view. The hotel team were all very friendly throughout our stay and extremely helpful. Breakfast... More

I had to make a last minute reservation when previously made plans fell through. This hotel had 1 room available due to a cancellation. It turned out to be a surprisingly perfect choice. The room was large and the cleaning staff was very efficient. The front desk personnel were very knowledgeable and spoke both English and French. The breakfast, included... More
