This hotel is up the hill in the old city of Vaison la Romaine. It was built in the middle ages, but was very comfortable. The rooms are furnished with antiques and had amazing views of the "newer" village below. The staff was very gracious and the breakfast was basic but good. If we had been there in warmer weather... We were only able to stay one night in Vaison-la-Romaine. Such a beautiful part of the world, and a very interesting and unique village. The hotel itself is lovely. Not at all difficult to find; we parked in a public space halfway up the hill to the upper village and lugged our bags to the front desk, about a 5... More

We stayed September 1st and 2d as part of a small group tour. The location is priceless, sitting on a cliff top and reachable through narrow stone paths. The building is centuries old, with stone steps so worn that they are no longer flat. The service was warm and friendly, befitting a small and intimate hotel. The garden was great... More

A pleasure to stay their; take care if you decide to drive up to the hotel though! The staff were great and I would definitely stay there again. Also beware that the stair case is shall we say interesting and if you are not very mobile then probably best avoided which would be a shame.

This charming Renaissance home on the medieval outcropping above both Roman and modern Vaison-la-Romaine has been an inn for over a century; that makes it a wonderful reminder of the importance of history in our experiences in Europe. The breakfasts were wonderfully relaxed events and the dinners outside were delicious. Service from the hotel desk to the dining room was... More

Stayed at the Beffroi again this August, a haven of peace a short stroll above the bustling town of Vaison, which has a great range of shops and restaurants. The pool on the terrace remains a real highlight as is the garden salad restaurant, the chuch bell is off so our excellent spacious airy rooms were even more tranquil. Friendly... More

This is a review for 2 rooms. The room quality varies quite a bit. One of the rooms needs some TLC. The carpet looks dirty and so is the comfortable cover. The room feels a bit like a dungeon. The chair is not very comfortable and the bed is a bit saggy. The other room is in much better shape... More

This was the best hotel in our three week stay in France. Authentic medieval setting, beautiful room with bath, amazing view, and truly elegant dinners in the atrium area. The staff was friendly and the town below the old city was charming. Roman ruins were only a short walk away. We loved everything about the old town and the hotel.

My family took a vacation to France in early July, and one of the places that we visited was Vaison-la-Romaine. We stayed at the Le Beffroi, and it was by far our most favorite place out of the whole trip. The hotel is of great historical significance, and it located in the medieval part of Vaison La Romaine. It has... More

If I could repeat all my hotel stays during our recent three week trip, it would be this hotel. Yes, it's difficult to drive a car into. Yes, it's hard to get your bag up the stairs. Yes, it is quaint in some ways. Yet the staff is wonderful, the room feels more like home than you would expect, and... More
