A two star hotel in the best location (right next to the port) Cassis accommodation is not cheap but this hotel is, by comparison, very reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and helpful and the room was spotlessly clean. Facilities are limited but better than expected: double glazed windows, air con/heating, etc. The bed was very comfortable but don’t expect it to be made up everyday nor the room serviced. When I inquired about this, I was told rooms were only serviced every second day. Didn’t worry us about might be an issue for some. I would suggest, if you want to avoid the noise of the street, you should book a room at the rear of the building, which we did, and it was blissfully quiet with the window open. Parking is a nightmare in Cassis but for a reasonable fee, you can prebook a parking space in a nearby car park. This is the perfect hotel for anyone on a budget and has reasonable expectations. I have read some reviews where people are expecting to live in a palace for a pittance!

During your vacation, if you are looking for rest and relaxation in a quiet and clean space, then this is NOT where you should stay. The bottom of the shower surround was caked with black/brown gunk and there was pubic hair inside the shower from the last guest. The bottom sheet had a sizeable hole in it. Note that the room was very tiny. A large person would have difficulty squeezing between the tight space between the shower and the toilet. When we arrived, about 10:22 a.m., the entire hotel throbbed and boomed from the music pouring into the street from the brasserie across the street. This incessant noise went on for nearly 12 hours ending minutes before 22:00. Trying to rest, work or even BE in the room during this time was nearly impossible. We had booked/payed for 2 nights. When we requested a refund for ONLY the second night. The owner refused and instead offered us "credit" so that we could stay at their hotel again at some future date.

Dear Guest You’ve already spewed your venom on Booking.com, and now on TripAdvisor. Almost the same whining .... For the record, you still have Google to harp on :-) Still in moderation you titrate this time: “One of our worst hotel experiences ever” Honestly, if you’ve never been worse, you’re pretty lucky. Indeed if you are looking for peace and quiet, avoid choosing a hotel 2 steps from the port of Cassis, and a room Street View (the main street), in the middle of school holidays, the evening of Haloween and the eve of a holiday. In addition, if you had respected the schedules, the check-in is from 4pm and not 10h22 am. So your ordeal shouldn’t have taken so long... Most of our guests come here to enjoy the famous animation of the village, and spend very little time locked in their room looking for pubic hair… As for the cleanliness of the bathroom, or a problem with the sheets, it would have been enough to point it out to us so that we could remedy it immediately. But you preferred to make photos and leave with to broadcast them, rather than just come and talk to us face to face:-( For some it’s much easier to be obnoxious REMOTELY:-) We offered you a quiet back room for your second night. You refused without explanation. We then offered you, without any obligation on our part, a credit note of this amount of one night, valid until the end of 2023. It doesn’t seem to suit you either. PS: Your room has a surface of 14.65m2. To help you perhaps put things in perspective, I will send you (as an individual), since you seem to like it, a shower photo of the last 4* hotel where I stayed. As for your photos, I can’t imagine what contortions you had to make to take them. It’s such a close-up that you can’t even see what it is.... Regards Hôtel LE CASSIDEN

We stayed here for 2 nights in September. Pluses: - Excellent location, right off Cassis's famous waterfront pier - 5-minute walk to the beach - Very sweet & helpful owner - Based on location, excellent price point - Secure - Very comfy beds Minuses: - We had the room right in front of the reception desk, and it was noisy in the morning, at checkout time - Poor wifi (but free) - not a lot of outlets - The room is small, even for European standards. We didn't have enough room to walk around the bed, so we walked OVER it to get to the toilet :) - Breakfast is not free Overall, recommend for a weekend getaway!

Dear Guests Thank you for your visit and your friendly comment. You enjoyed the excellent location, 2 steps from the port and the beach, as well as the comfort of the bedding and the quality of the reception. You also consider the price-performance ratio excellent and you recommend us. We are delighted with it. You had booked one of our small double rooms, at an attractive price but indeed small (10m2, bed width 130cm). However we clean these rooms every day with a vacuum cleaner and a bucket to wash the floor and we never had to walk on the bed for that... The passage is reduced at the end of the bed, but allows to pass easily. These rooms are located on the back of the hotel and therefore sheltered from street noise but in front of the reception. For information, the reception is open from 8am to 1.30pm and from 4pm to 8pm. Outside of these hours, no phone noise or conversation with guests. Enough to sleep at night, and even nap... We offer other double rooms standard rear (quiet) or front (view of the castle of Cassis), more spacious and equipped with double beds of 140cm or 160cm. All our rooms are equipped with a minimum of 2 electrical sockets, and we provide power strips on request. Breakfast is never included in our rates but our express formula is 5€. Looking forward to welcoming you again, in a more spacious and quiet room. With a direct booking, to benefit from our best rates and conditions, and to best meet your expectations (size and facilities of the rooms, back or front location...) Catherine & Sabrina

This is our second stay at Hotel Cassiden in Cassis, France. It is an ideal location in Cassis. You step out onto the street intersecting the town and the beach. There is a a great french bakery directly under the hotel, multiple restaurants and cafes. The rooms are very clean, has very good air conditioning and everything you need. Besides the location, this hotel has the most friendliest and personal staff and owners. If you want a true French experience, this is the place to stay. We will be back!

There is a bit trade-off with Hotel Le Cassiden. Its great central location comes with inconvenient parking and cramped quarters. We did save money on the hotel which we devoted to good meals and the hotel is only steps from the harbour, l knew going in that the room was going to be small. However, I had no idea a hotel room could be that small. The bathroom had a sink and toilet area roughly the size of two L-shaped phone booths. The shower was actually smaller than a phone booth. I had to walk in the bathroom door sideways to enter the bathroom. I did see a couple of older patrons struggling with a big bag coming up the long staircase. Neither looked very happy. I was really disappointed with the parking. I had swapped emails with the management and they had insisted parking was very close. It was not. It was about a six-minute walk up a hill. We took small carry on bags down to the hotel so that worked. It meant that when we checked-out we had to reorganize and repack our stuff in the trunk of the car in the public car park so that was fun. I will say, staff was very helpful and helped us out on a couple of occasions.

Hello Thank you for your visit and your comment. You appreciated the exceptional location of the hotel and the welcome. We are delighted. You booked a small room (10m2-bed 130cm), ideal for 1 to 2 people. These small, reasonably priced rooms are well equipped but room and bathroom are actually modest in size. They do however have a clothes closet. We also offer double rooms of larger size, on the back of the hotel (quiet) or on the front (overlooking the castle of Cassis). The hotel is actually on floors (2) and without lift but we are always there to help carry luggage if needed. The hotel does not have a car park but offers maps for the MIMOSAS car park at 300m, for 15 € / day. In addition, it is possible to park in front of the hotel during the check-out and on the drop-off at 10 meters during the check-in. Looking forward to welcoming you back to a larger room … Best regards Catherine - LE CASSIDEN

We really loved out stay at Hotel Le Cassiden. The room was small, but it is located in a charming building just steps away from the harbour, the beach amd many shops and restaurants. They offer a nice breakfast deal, and you can start your morning sitting in front of the hotel, drinking a coffee, watching the local market being set up. You can walk anywhere from the hotel, including the bus stop (to get to and from the train station) and the national park. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. Would recomend if you are staying in Cassis for a few days!

My room was on the 1st floor and faced the street. Tiny bath, comfortable bed, but not a room I would hang out in. I would stay here again...location was wonderful. I speak no French, and staff helped me out. For what it is, they do a great job. Wifi was a bit sketchy...could not FaceTime.

I stayed for 2 nights and was delighted with my stay. My room was bright & clean. There was a little fridge and the air con worked well in the hot weather (30 + degrees Celsius). The staff were friendly. The location is excellent - right near the port, with a small supermarket (with nice fresh fruit & veg) & a fantastic bakery a few steps from the front door. It is a 2 star hotel, so don't expect plush luxury. The decor was cheerful, nothing looked old or worn, and the bathroom was in good condition. I will be staying here again when I next return to Cassis. Note, you do need to walk up stairs to get to the reception.

This simple hotel is located on the upper floors of a building in rue Victor Hugo, the central pedestrian artery of Cassis. While the location is very central, rooms overlooking the street could be a little noisy, while rooms at the rear are quieter but suffer from odours emanating from restaurant ventilation systems. Rooms are clean, simple and adequately comfortable. Breakfast in not included in the room rate, but there is free wifi.

We knew this hotel when it was Le Provencale,a typical old style French hotel,a bit tired but honest. Now we go to the "trendy"," renovated Cassiden, paying 93 Euros for one night. What a disappointment. The room had been "renovated" as cheaply and as quickly as possible and this means badly.I have never seen such poor workmanship anywhere. We were in the trendy grey and red room. The bath, originally white had been painted red....by a four year old with a yard brush. The chrome fittings were half covered in red paint and the original white was showing through the chips in places. The top of the toilet system was broken, the mirror on the wardrobe cracked, coat hangers broken and lying about at the bottom of the wardrobe, coat hooks by the door broken. The whole room was in a sad state and as we were at the front of the hotel it was very noisy.Do not be fooled by the photos on the website as we were. There are other hotels that offer a much better experience at this price.
