A stopover travelling through France in the winter, looking for somewhere welcoming to stay. Staff were not bothered about our comfort, there was no public space to sit in, room was like a dungeon (dark brown with dingy lighting, low ceilings), pillows lumpy. Breakfast was good - I want to say something positive.

How does 2.5 h for a lunch sounds to you? Not only did it took 30 min to get a glass of water, menus and actually been acknowledged after been ushered in, but the rest of the lunch was just agonizingly slow and painful - even for French standards! Don't go with kids unless you have some amazing plans to... More

We arrived, having booked and were met by a very flustered waiter in a very understaffed restaurant. The waiter and a trainee were the only staff serving 40 covers. We were asked if we wanted an aperitif (very brusquely) and the 24 euros later were presented with 2 gins and 1 tiny tonic. We were then rushed to order and... More

Rooms full of charm, totally renovated, individually decorated, & well-appointed, inc. bathrooms. Located in a charentais-style building directly in front of sainte's 15th c abbey w/its 2 churhes. nice waking up to the peal of church bells instead of an alarm clock! chic restaurant serving delicious modern & classic-w/a-twist french dishes. both hotel & restaurant great value for price!

Right next to the main venue of the Saintes music festival this restaurant was the obvious place to eat and we enjoyed an evening on their terrace. Crab timbals and lanqoustine tails got us off to a good start. The mains,we both went for the sea bass with a courgette spaghetti along side a minced, subtley spiced, oyster with a... More

I don't know about the hotel, but we had a nice time at the restaurant. It is an old stone building situated on a quiet square near the abbey "Abbaye aux Dames". The interior is new and nice and the music choice (Pink Floyd which runs in a loop) was surprising according to the average age of people who were... More

48 euros per room. 5.70 euros breakfast. Nine newly refurbished themed [good sized] rooms [eg. Cote Ivoire, Cote Mer]. Hotel directly opposite the Abbaye aux Dames. Free public car parking available outside the hotel. About a 5 -10 minutes walk into main centre.Didn’t try the dinner but looks upmarket and well presented. Friendly staff.
