Eric and Catherine (both happy to converse in English) have recently taken over this Chambres d'Hote and are already old hands at making their guests very welcome. The Palmier sur cour is well placed near the centre of Rochefort that has several interesting places to visit without the need to go to La Rochelle with Royan and Saintes both short... More

We spent 3 nights at the Palmier Sur Cour - what a gem! Helene was so welcoming and seemed genuinely pleased to see us when we arrived. She offered us a cup of coffee and proceeded to show us, with tourist maps, various places to visit and restaurants to dine in - her directions and recommendations were excellent, very reliable.... We chose Rochefort not as a destination but as a convenient base to visit the region - we were surprised to discover how much Rochefort itself has to offer. Helene's enthusiasm for her 'adopted' town and detailed knowledge of the area was infectious (she is ably supported by Jean-Pierre). When we booked, we were concerned about the lack of private... We had a lovely stay at this B&B in Rochefort, despite the cold and rainy weather. Our hosts were wonderful and accommodating. Helene's breakfast with home-made yoghurt, jams and muesli was delicious. Jean-Pierre was so helpful with recommendations, maps, bikes to ensure we had a wonderful stay. The bed was heavenly, so comfortable - so when we ended up having... More

We booked this place for 3 nights on the basis of previous trip advisor reviews, and how right they were. A wonderful building to stay in, with fantastic hosts, very helpful and accommodating. Good central location for restaurants and a wonderful breakfast too!

Two nights in La Rochelle meant that we could make the most of Palmier sur Cour. Despite a mix-up in room bookings, they quickly rearranged things to accommodate us. The house is lovely and the large visitors lounge/dining area with mini kitchen is an additional bonus. I had to visit an optician due to an eye infection and Madame Coulon... More

Our hosts were warm and inviting, and most accommodating. We'd forgotten the battery for our camera, and Jean-Pierre spent a long while looking on the internet and telephoning around in order to find us somewhere to buy a replacement. It was so kind of him, especially as it was coming up to lunch time. He researched other things for us... More

We stayed at Palmier sur Cour for one night recently and booked on the basis of previous reviews. We were not disappointed. The Coulon Family were wonderful hosts. The house is beautifully presented. We stayed in the Corderie Family room which was lovely. The house is just a few minutes walk from the main square. There are plenty good restaurants... More

My wife, daughter and I spent the night in early May as part of a 3 week vacation in France. A wonderful home, location, breakfast and host. My wife appreciated the French linen, a rare find. You will not be disappointed.

A beautiful eighteenth-century town house in the middle of Rochefort, loads of restaurants in easy (flat) walking distance for the evening. The house is very elegantly decorated, there is a lovely sitting room for guests and a small kitchenette for tea and snacks if you need one. Very comfortable bed, lots of hot water, great selection of guide-books and magazines... More
