A beautiful setting in the older part of the town where the harbour, museums and the Corderie Royale are located. The hotel itself was fine but not really up to 4 star standards - could do with a lick or two of paint for example. The room was very nice although we had paid for a suite and had a... More

I stayed one night at hotel . Greeted by friendly and helpful receptionist. Room spacious and comfortable. I had dinner in restaurant and found staff helpful without being over bearing. Food was good , expensive but par for course in France. Breakfast was good for A French hotel

Presents itself as a four star hotel, and maybe it was once, but whilst it was pleasant enough, the owners need to deal with a few slippages: chipped paintwork, careless housekeeping, lack of maintenance staff available, loose electricals. The restaurant was very well presented by front of house, but the chef and the kitchen were not able to produce food... More

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a touring holiday in France that we booked through Brittany Ferries. This was our third hotel on route and we really enjoyed our stay here. I have to say that the Receptionist in the afternoon in particular was extremely helpful and spoke very good English which helped enormously,... More

This place gets mixed reviews, and now that we've visited we understand why. It is a historic venue, that has not been completely upgraded, and no air conditioning. Definitely not four stars. Once you understand that, it is a really pleasant place to stay, and the price/quality ratio is reasonable. Learn about the history of the place. Make sure to... More

La Corderie Royale displays 4 stars, but is not where near what one expects in this category. Our room was clean with a lovely view, but overall a bit tired. At check-in, we found the staff very helpful and welcoming. There are amenities such as pool, sauna and work-out room, if that is of interest. We did not use any... More

At the end of a 2 week bike tour, we stayed here. Lovely accomodTions, and a superb restaurant. First beef I have had on the trip, and it was perfectly prepared with bearnais sauce. Lovely pool if weather permits and next to the l,Hermione, the ship they are building to replicate the one Lafayette sailed to help the colonies in... More

This is an old French hotel, delightful and quaint with great service. We had difficulty finding it ending up in the carpark next door. The staff were very helpful, reinforced by assisting us with a great restaurant next door when the hotel one was fully booked to sending our jackets we left behind onto another hotel. Our room was very... More

The staff is friendly and available, the restaurant is excellent... But the hotel is getting old over time. We've been staying here almost every other year for the last 10 years, and accommodations haven't really changed since... Furnitures aren't in good quality anymore, bathrooms would need a serious revamp as well as carpets. Fortunately, it's still a pleasure to wake... More

Great hotel on the edge of the town close to the marina and overlooking the river. Very peaceful location and quiet at night. Benefits from a pool and small gym. Restaurant is high quality with attentive staff. Make sure you book a table in advance and ask to overlook the river.
