my review in May referred to St Malo so this is for Niort. We only stayed one night but we were really impressed with this hotel. It is with out doubt a 5* boutique hotel & the owner is also 5*. We stayed here for 2 nights mid October. This delightful hotel is everything you could want. Warm welcome, superb rooms, tranquil setting, yet only a casual ten minute walk into the centre of Niort. If you are visiting this area you could not find better.

We stayed here for only one night on May 4th. The hotel is in a perfect location in the old town of St Malo which is a really lovely place to spend more than one night. La Porte Rouge is a handsome 19th century townhouse, ten or fifteen mins walk from the centre of town. It's family-run and the owners were very helpful and friendly, and said they've been running it for 2 years now.
