Only one dissenting comment on this auberge out of all the reviews received? And this from a 'steak and frites' member who casually visited for a drink! Surely some mistake or skulduggery? This auberge and restaurant is different to the French norm. They are friendly, accommodating and helpful. The food is good, the prices fair and the rooms are clean,... More

My husband and I booked to stay 3 nights and ended up staying 5 nights. Carol and Carl go the extra mile to make sure everything is ok for your stay. The whole place is spotless and the rooms nicely decorated. The food is lovely and plentiful. It is so quite in the village and everybody is so friendly. You... More

We visited for dinner with friends to celebrate birthdays. Despite the heat of the day the terrace is sheltered with spectacular views. Excellent starters and some reasonable wines. Main courses were fine but showed less flair than the starters. It is a British family run business providing good service in a convivial atmosphere. Yes we will go again

Incredible value for money with food as good as that which I have had in some of the top London restaurants if not better. Great variety of food. Service was impeccable with great attention to detail and I was made really at home. A nice touch was that the chef served the desert and came and chatted to us. The... More

We ate here whilst holidaying in the region and we should have realised that the food would be pretty English. It was like a Bernie Inn with better steak, not a French accent in sight and a waitress straight out of Faulty Towers. It was okay but over priced and the thick chips must have explained the fried food smell... More

I stayed nearly one week in La Bonne vie. After a lang day of meetings and appointments it's really nice to come back to rest in this hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are super clean, well maintained... , well done Carol. Free and fast WIFI is also one of the big advantages. The super chef Carl knows what cooking is,... More

We had our wedding reception at A La Bonne Vie and several relatives stayed at the B and B prior to the big day. We also stayed for the wedding night. It was absolutely fantastic. Carl and Carol are everything you would wish for in hosts, very friendly, good local knowledge and nothing is too much trouble - they even... More

A La Bonne Vie is a gorgeous hotel and restaurant located in a small picturesque village in Niort. Chef Carl is amazing, the food was simply devine! We were staying for a wedding, as we have family in the area Carol is an excellent hostess, servicing both the bar and waiting area. We stayed in the downstairs room, with comfy... More

Friends living in the area recommended this auberge to us. And what a great recommendation it turned out to be. Friendly owners, friendly and efficient staff; a 'can do' attitude shown by all and, of course, excellent accommodations and a restaurant that has superb food (who says the British don't know about cuisine?). Spotlessly clean rooms and bathrooms, well maintained... More
