Beautiful hotel and courteous helpful staff, this much was evident even though we only stayed one night. What i struggled with was paying 18 euros per head for a very basic continental breakfast.

We stayed in Chatellerault but not at the Gourmandine. Having seen it on our walk around town we decided to eat there as it looked so lovely. The building and decor is gorgeous but the meal was really, really average (but expensive!) actually below average for French dining. we found this hotel quite by chance and were quite taken with it. The room we had was very pretty, but it was the meal in the restaurant that will make us return, they should have a michelin rosette it was so delicious!

When first arriving in Chatellerault I was not sure what to make of it all, From the UK the travelling is a nightmare, Flight from London to Paris, then train from Paris to Poitier (2.5 hours) but I think I could not be welcomed better by the hotel and the staff at La Gourmandine.
