- Metropol Hotel Calais

I found the Metropol, convenient, pleasant, comfortable.
Convenient for Calais centre with a short walk, not in the main centre so nice and quiet, large carpark out the front so no parking issues, secure parking available at an extra charge if you require it (we didn't)
Everyone we dealt with at the hotel for our overnight stay was pleasant and...

I first stayed in this hotel 6 years ago when I was touring around France, at that time it was the first hotel that I called that day with a suitable room in a convenient area.
So when I was in the area again last year I went back, its been polished up a bit - some may say its...

We have been staying here 2/3 times a year for over 5 years and have never had cause to complain. The rooms and bathrooms have been comfortable and clean. The staff have been friendly helpful and competant. We do not understand some of the other reviewers comments about the breakfast provided - it has always been a typical comprehensive continental buffet
but an...

The Metropol in in a building from 1926 and while an older hotel, it was clean and well decorated throughout. It was a great value that included breakfast and free wifi. There is garaged parking for a small fee. In a nice location, I would definitely stay here again!
Stayed in hotel on quickie to France.
Expected cast of Allo allo to appear. Full size snooker table in dining room left room short of space for breakfast tables.
Rooms very 1970's and corridor lights only turn on when movement in corridors but took some time to come on!
Breakfast continental only but OK. Tea not strong enough to get...

We stayed in this hotel on 25th September 2011 on our way back from a holiday in Italy. It was an absolute disgrace. The room stank of urine, the plaster on the wall was cracked, the bathroom was filthy and the toilet was in such a position that a tall man,i.e me, had to sit sideways on it! I would...

Stayed here for 1 night before returning back to England after our holiday. Basic room, grubby mattress, uncomfortable pillows. It wasn't terrible but is was not worth the 74 euros per room. The bar area was OK for a drink in the evening, didn't take up breakfast at 11 euros when you get one at better hotels or patisseries for...

We stayed one night in July, 2011. Calais has two train stations, Gare SNCF and Gare routiere. The Metropol is a five minute walk from Gare SNCF. The hotel is located about a ten minute walk from City Hall, a beautiful square and a park with a World War II Museum . If you are getting off the ferry from...

Our final night in France after a meandering return from La Dordogne.
We've booked the hotel before and had the same room as in 2008! Wow!
The hotel is centrally located in Calais, which itself is a lovely town often bypassed as we rush to our final holiday destinations or return home to the UK.
Our room was clean and...
