no welcome. Dusty dark room.broken chair. Torn carpet. Worn sheets, Dirty cup.kettle covered in limescale. Told reception, cup was washed, carpet and dust inspected by staff member, but no apology or alternative offered. We decided not to stay which was greeted with indifference - we had paid in advance for a superior room!

It was our third stay at this hotel and we don't regret not trying another establishment. It feels like a home away from home. We really like the laid back atmosphere and quirky decor. Very comfy beds, fresh and varied breakfast, delicious coffee, lots of free parking, fast Wi-FI, easy walk to the center. Again, we could not fault this... More

I am not sure anyone should use the term 'shabby chic' but this describes this hotel beautifully. I normally like cool and stylish but this place is stunning. It is like walking onto the set of a period drama. I was waiting for Mr Darcy to call up to the room to see if I fancied a game of tennis... More

We stayed overnight on a trip through France to Spain. It is situated in a pleasant area of Calais near to gardens. If you are looking for charming surroundings with lovely architecture and antique furnishings this is the place for you. We stayed in a superior room which was definitely worthwhile-spacious bedroom, separate toilet and bathroom and small anti room.... More

Don't be put off by the facade of the hotel - concrete and untidy, with a broken step. Once you open the doors though it's a lovely hotel, very quirky, full of character. The rooms are pretty, clean and with very comfortable beds. Good size bath, which was rare on our trip through France! Breakfast perfectly adequate and a cosy... More

Second overnight stay at this hotel, love it. Good location, great rooms and staff friendly. I would consider this hotel for 1 night or even more. We travel with our small dog and he is made welcome. We also use a family room always very good

If you had to go by the check in you might never stay at this hotel: it was not the most impressive 'welcome' -- but the rooms are good and it's quiet and the breakfast is excellent. It's full of antiques - real ones - and a great location in the centre of the town. We'd be happy to stay... More

This hotel was first built during the French revolution, destroyed during the second world war, and rebuilt in period style in 1953. It is quite magnificent, a large building with an impressive foyer, winding staircase and antique furniture everywhere. We were greeted at the front desk by three kind and helpful people who spoke varying degrees of English, one excellent.... More

Conveniently located within a 5/10 minute walk of the train station (and roughly a €16 taxi ride from the ferry terminal) the hotel is on a quiet street, near the shops & restaurants. The hotel is really quite charming, with a unique decor and traditional style, it really stands out from the bland chain hotel style. The room was a... More

With a group of 5 couples we wanted somewhere as a stop over before driving down the coast early the next morning. The Meurice is a bit out of the way in a quiet part of town (or so it seemed on a wet Monday night). However the hotel is a delight very old world but not shabby. Rooms are... More
