After a lovely visit to the abbey at Mont Saint Michel my husband and I wanted lunch before the drive back to our hotel. We were seduced by the sun soaked patio at La Vielle Auberge so sat at one of the tables. I do speak French so the terrible service that ensued cannot be attributed to a language barrier.... More

The welcome was pretty laid back. Be prepared to hike your hotel room! But the view is worth it. I would suggest packing light for this trip, as getting through the crowded streets to the hotel check in was very difficult. Then from there we had to climb a lot of steps to get to our room--but the hotel helped... More

There was so much to like about our wonderful stay on Mont St Michel and this little inn was one of them. Located off the main street up stone stairs and a small cobbled way, our room was not at all fancy, but clean and comfortable. In this way it did not compete with the marvel that is Le Mont,... If you are after a Five Star, all inclusive hotel then look somewhere else...entirely! However, if you are after one remarkable stay in a truly breathtaking place then who really cares for one night as long as it's clean, has lovely hot showers and very comfortable beds!!!??? We arrived (after a frustrating time trying to find our overnight parking lot... More

We were two senior couples who stayed here one night. One of the good things was that we had to come quite long into the main street to find this hotel. In other words we were well informed about a lot of what Le Mont Saint Michel had to offer when we arrived the hotel. We got rooms in the... More

This was my second time to visit the Mont Saint Michel. This time I visited with my sisters and stayed at La Vielle Auberge. Booked a triple room for a night and we were given a room at their annex which was a few steps up a hill. The room was clean and the space was good enough for 3... More

I viewed our stay on MSM with trepidation as the reviews are so Mixed. However I am happy to report that while the Auberge is not luxurious, it is comfortable and perfect for one night on the island. I am writing this review in bed and I have to say I am more than happy with the accomodation. The room... More

I was somewhat dreading staying overnight on Mont St. Michel b/c of all of the bad reviews but my husband and I had a wonderful time! It was easy to park the car, take the shuttle to about 1/4 mile away from the entrance and get to the hotel. We checked in at the restaurant desk and a young man... More

Unfortunately, the place is really really bad, dirty, old, smelly and we did spent a lot of money. Sadly I have to say that the whole Mont-St-Michel looked kind of dirty, we had breakfast in a place full of bird's poop everywhere, thank God we didn't get anything. And this is supposed to be the second most visited place of... More

I'm giving it very good rating due to our view of the ramparts and water - sure, the room wasn't the Ritz, but the whole atmosphere of the island, the abbey, narrow streets, etc. We had a small room with a low roof and random height ceiling (low), and the window within room faced the sky, but the bathroom view...
