For a very unique experience, stay here in this family run, excellent value hotel. Be prepared to carry your luggage up multiple flights of stairs. Rooms tight but comfy but many have views of the Abbey lit up at night. Restaurant serves good dinners in a room with all windows looking out at the water. Or mud. But a fabulous... More

We got a bay-view room with half-board and it was great. The bath isn't the size of a postage stamp, and it's just a beautifully done room, with lots of plugs, and it even had two bars of soap - one of for the shower and one for the sink - a first on this trip. And while the shower... More

My understanding is that most of the hotels - that are reasonably priced and actually on the Mont -are all equally mediocre. Well, Hotel du Guesclin's price and restaurant would qualify for it as the best among the mediocre. We stayed here at the recommendation of Rick Steve's book. We wanted to stay on the island of Mont St Michel and beat the morning crowds. Staff were helpful, though not too helpful if that makes sense. The view from our rooms was really cool. The breakfast in the morning at the hotel was pretty good but not overwhelming. This hotel is located on the ramparts of Mont. St. Michel. After the shops close at 5pm and all the tourists leave, you are free to explore the island with few other people. We wanted to stay one night in Le Mont-Saint-Michel, and we chose this hotel for value for money. Definitely handy to appreciate the uniqueness of the place and the tourist visit outside the box, but the hotel absolutely is average. This was described previously as the best of a bad bunch - I just think it's bad. We suffered two meals here with friends. First a brunch involving omelettes that had been cooked previously, certainly not that day, and then warmed with whatever filling you required. Inedible rubbish and if you can't cook fresh omelettes you should not call yourself... More
