After reading some reviews we decided to stay in Mont St Michel for 1 night . Very unique experience .Everything I read was correct .When most of the tourists leave it is an eerie , neat , unforgetable place to be .Lots of places to eat, little pricey but you are paying for the location ,The hotel was basic ,... more

Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor, we knew not to bring our full suitcases to the hotel. Driving from the Loire Valley took us about 4 hours, driving through small towns, using our Tom Tom. (I could not find any information online about driving times...hopefully someone can use this info.) You must park in the elevated lot, closest to... more

Enchanting village for about 15 minutes. Prices for everything are outrageous. You'd do far better to stay OFF THE ISLAND and visit for a day. Mere Poulard is a rip-off--from the overpriced restaurant to the unimpressive rooms (for the price). The food is good, but not worth what you will pay. I'm currently in credit card dispute with the hotel... more

My wife and I wanted to stay the evening at Mt. St. Michel. Our travel agent booked this hotel. It was nicely appointed but had a surprise- no elevator for our heavy luggage. We had to go up four long flights of small crowded stairs to our room. It did not kill us but if you are out of shape-... more

My partner and I had a great stay at La Mare Pulard. Yes you have to climb a lot of stairs to your room, some of the rooms are smaller than average, the restaurant is pricey (but an attraction in its own right) and the rooms aren't the cheapest. But for all that, this is a very special place to... more

We liked that it was the first hotel inside the city gates, so it was really easy to find. We also liked the ambiance of the hotel and the room. The hotel ground floor had an open kitchen area where they cook the "famous omelettes" in front of a great fire, and is fun to see. There's a restaurant and... more

We took the very appropriate advice and left the luggage in the car, carrying only our backpacks. This was so smart but even still, the narrow, windy staircase to our 5th floor room wore me out! Be sure you get those legs in shape before taking this trip. The warnings are right so anyone planning to stay the night needs... more

Stayed for one night at the end of March. We were in the Moulin Rouge annex, had a nice room with lovely views. The hotel itself is very interesting with lots of old photos to look at. Le Mont St Michel itself is a wonderful place and i would recommend an overnight stay because its even more spectacular at night when the... more

The Mere Poulard is the best hotel on the island if you don't want to have to carry any luggage half-way up the hill through busy streets, as it is located just inside the entrance to the Mont. The rooms are unremarkable, but comfortable and quiet. The real reason to stay here is for the food in the restaurant, and... more

We visited Mont St Michel with friends for an overnight stay. We heeded other travellers warnings to ensure our luggage was limited to overnight requirements only as you must climb stairs to get to your accommodation. La Mere Poulard is an iconic hotel, playing host to famous people over many years. They are renowned for "the omelette" and have a... more
