We arrived at the Alençon Campanile late on a Friday evening in August. It was a welcome relief to arrive at somewhere where there was a friendly welcome and a helpful response, and despite the more expensive price, well worth the stay. We had made a booking at B&BHotels which had been mis-processed for the wrong night (not my fault,... More

The staff really did make this a pleasant stay! They spoke good English too. We were travelling from Spain up to Calais. Dog was not a problem. There is green space to walk a dog nearby. Room 70 euros, dog 5 euros, dinner 53 euros. The dinner was nice and there was a specials board. Husband had pork ribs and... More

We had a nightmare journey down from the channel tunnel, 6hrs instead of 3h30m thanks to the satnav giving up on Rouen's road closures so we needed what we always get from the Campanile chain. The room was adequate, two comfortable beds, quiet, and with parking ouside the door as it is all on one level. The man in reception... More

A shabby little hotel in a shabby little industrial area. The signposting is negligible, making it it hard to find in the dark. The welcome by the man on reception bordered on hostile. The waitress in the dining room was worse. A request for omelettes, as offered on the menu, at about 9 p.m., was met by a "Non" with... More

The hotel clearly is outdated. The room smelled humid and was not very clean. One of the bedsheets was blood stained. Breakfast, not included, was okay, but not more than that. Too much money for the value. Directly outside of the room was a ashtray for smokers. In the room one could smell this!! We wil never book here again.

We needed air conditioning in Alencon and this was the one place that had it. Probably the lowest standard of accom I've stayed in but it was better than expected. The air-conditioning worked well, the toiletries were no worse than a lot of the chain hotels in France - one squeeze bottle for hair and body shampoo. It was also... More

Stayed here on our way to Spain. Very convenient just off motorway easy to find. room was quiet but not as clean as we would have liked. Arrived to late for restaurant so can't comment. Did not take breakfast; to expensive and we were leaving early. Hotel expensive for what you get. For us it was just okay. would we... More

Arrived in Alencon, France at about 7pm to find out that the price for one night was 80 Euros, not including breakfast. Yes, all rooms at Campanile are basic, but this was tired and basic. We stayed just outside Bordeaux on the way down and that was much nicer, at a cost of 63 Euros. We were not impressed with... More

We stayed here for our first night in France, driving from Calais. Reception warm and friendly and motel layout useful as we could park outside our room. We had requested a twin room as the doubles did not have a large bed (we like a king size). The room was directly opposite reception so convenient, but the beds were very... More

Unfortunately this Campanile has not been renovated recently and it is in urgent need of an upgrade. Having said that, the prices definitely have been upgraded, and a room rate of £ 100+ is completely out of order. Check with booking companies before you go! The rooms are tatty and smelly, but on the plus side, they are clean and... More
