This was my second stay at Philipe's Hotel Beatus. Philipe the owner, is also an amazing battlefield historian - notably regarding the battle of Cambrai in the 1st World War. The amazing thing is that he has taken an older hotel and instilled in it an extraordinary amount of charm turning what might have been just another hotel into a... More

Not knowing what to expect at this hotel we arrived with some trepidation. We prefer to travel by coach so when we disembarked and were asked to follow the green carpet. I wondered what we had let our selves in for. The green carpet (astro turf) led us through a garden area into the hotel reception and it was so... More

I was here on a Battlefield Tour organised by an "old boy" of my old school. The charm and beauty of the location, welcome and service provided the ideal complement to the occasion. Several of the attendees had been my contemporaries, back in the 1950s; in my case 1954-58! Thank you … very much indeed.

A lovely quiet hotel in nice grounds perfect for an overnight stay from the UK to Switzerland. The rooms were very nicely furnished, much better standard than expected with a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom. The meal was good value too

We were passing through en route to Lille and stayed here for two nights only, to look at the Matisse gallery and the nearby graves of wilford Owen and Edward Thomas, both war poets. As soon as we approached the entrance we were enchanted by the beautiful archway of flowers. Our spacious and pretty room overlooked it, but we were... More

Here again on a Battlefield Tour and this Hotel is always a joy to stay at. Set in a garden which would be particularly lovely in the better weather, the rooms are French styled, comfortable and individual and the bathrooms are large. It's not a cookie cutter place - it feels like the people running it are proud and enjoy... More

My husband, sister in law and myself have just returned from a 5 day trip of the WW1 battlefields in Northern France. We spent 4 nights at Hotel Beatus, Cambrai, and ate in the restaurant for 3 of those evenings. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this lovely hotel. We had spacious, clean and well equipped rooms with large and very comfortable... More

Another wonderful stay at the Beatus. Admirably looked after by Philippe, David and the team. The ambience is truly French as is the food which is delectable. Just to sit in the garden on a spring/summer's evening is a great experience, and you would not think that it is situated near to the main road. It is more than worthy... More

Looking for a place to stop after a late start on our way to the Alps, Cambrai was a sensible stop and the hotel a perfect choice. Yes the WW1 memorabilia was fascinating, but also the welcome was super, the rooms, simple but clean and tidy, unlike many corporate budget hotels one is forced to use close to motorways in... More

We stayed here with friends on a WW1 trip and it was perfect. The building and grounds are very attractive and the staff could not be more helpful. The Patron, Philippe, is a WW1 enthusiast who owns a tank called Deborah and he'll happily show you round. Our room was quite small but more than adequate - well equipped and... More
