We arrived at hotel around 2.30 pm and it was closed, after knocking on doors and windows we finally managed to get someones attention. After checking in we were told that we were not to use any part of the hotel except for our rooms until 5.30 pm. We had breakfast next morning (cost 8 euros each) which consisted of... More

I was visiting the hotel for 2 days and arrived at 9PM. The hotel was locked and I had a code for the entrance to the receoption where I could pick up my keep. There were nobody in the reception that evening. Actually there is free WiFi at the hotel, but I did not receive the code for the WiFi... More

I did not stay at this hotel (would have liked to!) but was lucky enough to be invited for lunch. I fully agree with 'Loveitdoneright' about the quality of welcome, service and cooking offered by M et Mme Roussel and their staff. Just wonderful local specialities and a nice comfortable ambiance to go with it. I'm working on my plan... More

Stayed here in early July 2014. Rooms clean and tidy if a bit small. Hotel staff helpful. Restaurant was busy in evening with locals so I would say it has a good reputation. The garden bar is a bit limited but OK for a pre dinner beer. Hotel is a short walk from the town square which is typically french... More

A typical small French hotel well situated about a 15 minute walk to the centre of Cambrai. We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday, which was a little disappointing as whilst the simple rooms were clean and comfortable the bar, cafe, restaurant and public areas close after breakfast at the weekend. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit and yoghurt as... More

We elected to stay at this hotel because of its proximity to the nearby harbour. As we were arriving after a long flight, and then a train trip, we booked in for a week to unjet-lag prior to attending an appointment. Our initial impression of Cambrai was coloured by the complete absence of taxis, including flat refusal by the only... More

We stayed here one night only. We had a tiny little room on the top floor with skylight and pitched roof. The room had the basic stuff but was very small. Bathroom worn out with a shower cabin that wouldn't fit a medium sized person. We were not greeted by a warm welcome (which we normally don't reflect on). The... More

We were traveling by train to our next destination and discovered a conflict while we were checking out. The gracious lady who checked us out found us a rental car in a close city and brought us to the train station. She saved us hours on our trip. The hotel has comfortable rooms and is close enough to walk to... More

I have used La Chope for several years. Restaurant is of a good standard, Mon-Fri for commercial hotel clients, same menu price lunch or evening. Weekend restaurant is closed - but they give me an entry code for the hotel room for the evenings. Parents retired recently, and chef Christophe plus wife Veronique took over - they live in the... A slightly odd place on a weekend. They're completely closed by 6pm. No bar, no restaurant, no staff. If you want to get your cars/bikes in or out after that, forget about it. The rooms are small, but nice enough, beds are clean and VERY comfortable, the surrounding area is quiet. However, at the end of our stay when presented... More
