Enclos is superbly located in the Old Town - it may be the only establshment within the walls. We choose the Coquelin bedroom. Whilst it is the most expensive room it is a delightful experience and very good value by French standards as breakfast is included. Dinner is quite expensive but in line with fine dining cost in the area.... more

My partner, and another two couples have just spent 3 nights at Enclos, and we had no complaints what so ever about the accommodation, food or service. Situated right in the heart of the Old Town and within two minutes walking to the Notre Dame Cathedral, many bars and restaurants, and also to the walkway around the old town ramparts.... more

My first stay in l'Enclos was in July 2007. We (husband, daughter and myself) stayed for three nights. Our stay was so pleasant that we decided to go back for Newyear's Eve 2007 and 2008 with my family and my mother and godmother. On both occasions we were never asked to pay in advance (we are from Belgium so not... more

I see that this establishment has attracted both 5 star and 2 star reviews. I'm not surprised. We stayed one night and experienced both ends of the spectrum. First, the positives. The building is beautiful, centrally situated in Boulogne's old town, next to free parking, in the shadow (literally, at 9am) of the magnificent basilica. The rooms are spacious and... more

We found this to be a charming establishment in a delightful position at the top of Boulogne's old town, with direct access to the cathedral and ramparts and a short and pleasant walk into the town centre. Free parking is next to the hotel. We booked the hotel's 'Discovery Package' promotion, which (as at Dec 2008) was 300 euros per... more

An up market Bed and Breakfast Hotel in the shadow of the Cathedral in the heart of the old town of Boulogne. A restored town house with large rooms, high ceilings decorated and furnished in traditional style. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room spacious, comfortable and clean, large en-suite bathroom with ample towels and bathrobes. Good continental breakfast.... more

I totally agree with all the great positives in other reviews. However, two minor points irritated. First, the owners never replied to any of my email enquireys. I eventually had to call & book. Second, I too object to being asked to pay for the stay upfront. It's certainly NOT custom practice in France as we witnessed each morning when... more

Just got back from a one night stay here. My parents in-law had spotted Enclos de l'Eveche on a previous trip to Bolougne and thought it would be a nice place to stay en famille on the occassion of my mother-in-law's 60th birthday. First impressions were good, E de L'E is a lovely 19th century town house set around a... more

This small B&B is run by Thierry and Pascaline Humez located in the old city of Boulogne-sur-Mer. We stayed in a large blue ocean style room with almost a same size bathroom with a perfect shower. The room in this typical French house had a view on the quiet court-yard. Very good breakfast in the classic room downstairs. It is... more

I have just had lunch with a friend who was thinking of going somewhere in Northern France for a few days in the summer. I recommended the Enclos De L'Eveche and just came online to email her the details. I couldn't believe the negative reviews on here. Admittedly, I stayed there with my boyfriend some time ago however we thought... more
