Montreuil sur mere is a lovely little french village situated around an hours drive from Calais. I first went to this village whilst courting my girlfriend (now wife). Anyhow, after a few years later and our daughter, we went back to the Chateau for lunch. Well, it was fantastic. From the food to the staff, you just couldn't fault the... more

Despite the classification this hotel is not even in Boulogne but in Montreuil. It is however the best hotel within 100 miles of Calais without question. We have been to this part of France a dozen times over the last few years and this hotel is in a different league from the others. The rooms are stylish and comfortable. The... more

This is the first time I have reviewed a hotel and wanted to respond to some negative comments on this site. We have been going to the Chateau for many years and had many wonderful times there. It's not cheap and not a run of the mill hotel. If thats what you are looking for there are several other hotels... more

Stayed for one night. Had a family room on the second floor which was great - plenty of room, huge bathroom. Heated pool which was good and hotel located just by the ramparts and easy to get to the town. Staff excellent - booking process was more than helpful. Ate in the restaurant - formal French but staff were excellent... more

We stayed at the Chateau last Saturday night as it was convenient for the Citadel where we had booked to see Les Miserables. At €470 per night (dinner, bed and breakfast) it is expensive and not worth the money for one night as there is very little time to enjoy the facilities or the grounds. The rooms are large and... more

I have to come to the defence of the Chateau which has had some bad reviews here. We have stayed there many times for different reasons and have always enjoyed ourselves. We have just returned from a "booze cruise" weekend and cannot fault the service, the efficiency of the staff team, the size and comfort of the room and the... more

Stayed for one night here last week on a quick booze trip! Recommended by a friend who has stayed here a few times. Read mixed reviews on this site. We had a great stay, superb room, on second floor (bathrooms updated on this floor). The staff were very helpful and effecient. The food in the restaurant was very good. Breakfast... more

Plumbing awful, had to be shepherded in dressing gowns down a flight of stairs to another room to have a bath! Room smelt of cigarettes. The food was very disappointing as well. more

Chose from the Relais and Chateaux white book 2006. Stayed in Sept 2006. Expectations not met for me. We stayed in suite in main house and although beds comfortable and the trappings available as expected, the decor was tired especially the bathroom, (Too many mirrored walls for comfort). Dinner in rest. was a formal and stiff affair, with a very... more

Came across this hotel the last time we visited the region. The village itself isn't particularly remarkable, although a walk around the ramparts is lovely, especially when the sun is shining and the wine specialist shop Vinophile is worth a visit too - but the real reason to return to Montreuil is this Chateau. This hotel is very warm and... more
