We only ever stay in 2 star hotels and the Avenue Hotel falls somewhat down the scale only because of two things.
Whilst the rooms are clean and the shower is ok the smell of previous smokers is very.evident in the pillows and bedding. Having bolsters instead of pillows make makes the smell seem worse
