Really lovely large room, nice furniture throughout, good shower with bath (great after hiking), nice also to have late night drink. Great central location. Good information re: restaurants & hikes in the area. They also speak very good english.

We are 2 Australians who had booked alternative accommodation in Cauterets to Lion D'or. We had misfortune and lacked any French language to sort it out. In desperation we entered hotel Lion d'or and found Thomas in reception. He was most helpful, polite and respectful and really did put himself out to assist us by calling on family connections in... The hotel is nice enough, a good bed, a very clean room and bathroom and the staff are very pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast was fine, if a little pricy at 11 Euros, but the evening meals were a big disappointment. For the half-pension price of 23 Euros, you can do better than this almost anywhere in France. For our... More

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in May and were pleased to have chosen this hotel. We arrived very early and went to inquire about parking, which is right behind the hotel with a back door to inside. The lovely lady at the desk checked if our room was ready, gave us the pass code for the back... More

I stayed a long weekend skiing in Cauterets. I had been in the hotel 2 years ago and this weekend confirmed again that this is a very good and friendly ran familyhotel close to everything: the center, skilifts and especially 'les thermes' which is super relaxing after a day skiing and affordable since you can buy the entrance together with... We stayed here for 5 nights for a skiing holiday. I couldn't fault the hotel at all! It's a lovely traditional, family run hotel. Great location in the centre of the town and immaculately presented throughout. Each of the rooms are decorated beautifully and are really clean and comfortable. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, who were... More

We stayed in this hotel after the summer. The town was quiet and we had a lovely time in the hotel. The host was very polite and helpful. There is plenty to see around the town. Would definitely go back to this place. Sometimes might be difficult to find car park space near the hotel. Overall very good.

The Lion d'Or is perfect! Great staff; central location; spacious rooms; modern beds and furniture; convenient free parking; even the restaurant is good! We can cite no faults with this excellent, traditional hotel.

This charming hotel has everything you want as a traveller - a warm and friendly welcome, a delightfully comfortable room, clean, and individually decorated. Then there is the excellent food and wine, and good service in the restaurant. In addition it is right in the middle of Cauterets which is a wonderful little town with the amazing Pont D'Espagne just... More

My wife, Teenage son and I stayed in Hotel du Lion d'Or for 3 nights as part of our 2 week summer holiday exploring the Pyrenees and Rosuillion area. Cauterets is a charming, picturesque town perfectly positioned for exploring and hiking in the beautiful surrounding mountain's. The hotel has a great central location, just a short walk away from the... More

The hotel has been completely refurbished and, although it has all modern comforts, its traditional charm and warmth have been preserved.
