This is now our third time staying at the Truffe Noire, and it never disappoints. It's a great stopover if you are driving through France. It's really old-fashioned, but in a good way. Rooms are really quite large, and good value for the money. We had plenty of space for my family - good sized bathroom, and great beds. Restaurant... More

It was late at night and we were to stay in another hotel in Brive-la-Gaillarde but it was terrible so lucky we found this one!! Good clean rooms, super friendly staff ( are we in France !! ) , good location and a very good nights sleep. Would stay here again and think this is a good stop over hotel.... More

Our second night on our road trip 2014 was spent at this hotel. We stayed here approx 4 years previous and had the exact opinion as last time. A beautiful hotel with gorgeous gardens in which you can dine. The food being of the highest standard. The staff make you feel very welcome and the rooms are spacious with windows... More

Our one-night stay at La Truffe Noir, situated next to the old town centre of Bourges, was very pleasant. We were travelling with a rather ancient Guide Michelin (rouge), where it was well reviewed, so I had phoned ahead to book with fingers crossed, but we were certainly not disappointed. The hotel is a little on the old-fashioned side, but... More

I stayed at this Hotel as part of an Insight Vacations tour of France. The Hotel was very clean and the room was spacious and nice. The bed and pillows were both very good. It was let down by the food. Dinner was OK, but not much more than average.Breakfast was a total disaster....3/10. A very poor selection of everything.... More

We stayed for one night at the beginning of September. It was a comfortable room, we would rate it as 2* rather than 3* but the beds were comfortable and it was a good size. No air con which meant we had to have the windows open onto the street which was noisy when the street cleaners came round early... More

This is a small, typically French hotel just around the corner from the main street! Was surprised when I walked - single bed, but arond the corner a nice comfy large bed! So at least room to sit ! Breakfast adequate - lovely croissants.

This is probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in Europe. It must have been grand once but it is definitely in decline. The exterior is dirty and grungy, the carpets are worn and dirty and the whole atmosphere is dark and dingy. Our room was tiny with a hole in the wall behind the door. To be fair,... More

I was not expecting such a huge space in the suite. Really comfortable for us and our 2 small kids. Breakfast location in the cave is not nice as they were a lot of insects. We had a good dinner in the restaurant!

This is a truly delightful hotel with lots of character and appeal. Our room was pleasantly appointed and met all of our needs. The bed was roomy and comfortable. Breakfast provided reasonable choice and certainly met our requirements. The hotel restaurant provides an excellent selection of quality dishes for other meals. The staff was wonderfully helpful and pleasant. Overall we... More
