We arrived at the hotel at about 5pm, to be told we had no booking and it was closed! This was in spite of having booked our one-night off-season stay directly with the hotel. Never mind - we were welcomed and shown to a room in the deserted four storey building. We had asked for a room with a view and were given one, however when we asked for a room with a bath tub we were moved to a room with a view of the main street rather than the mountains.
Although the decor (of the room and the public areas) was a bit dated, the room was reassuringly cosy. There was a basic TV and more lamps than sockets to plug them in to (!!!), however this was no great problem. For the tariff, it was excellent value.
We ate in the hotel's restaurant downstairs, which was buzzing despite the lack of hotel guests, enjoying a good cheese fondue and very good service.
