We set our expectations a little high and thought the reception would be welcoming and effusive but it was quite calm and understated. The meal itself was fine and one could hardly complain. The more expensive wine was as good as it gets but in terms of taste to value probably a little expensive. WHat we did learn is that... More

Chateau Valmy Restaurant is a really lovely place. The ambiance and the spectacular views are superb. Its good to be able to taste the wines in the cave before choosing for your meal and the wine prices are excellent including the offer of a free bottle at the table if a case is bought. The service is good and the... More

The chambres d'hôtes are well decorated, bed is very comfortable and the rooms receive a good natural light. The views complete the décor, with the sea in one side and a park or mountains on the other. There is a good swimming pool and a Jacuzzi and you can also enjoy a wine tasting at the winery and dinner on... More

We stayed here at the end of a gruelling 720 km cycle ride across the Pyrenees and could not have been more delighted. Not only was the Chateau beautifully decorated but the welcome warm and professional. It felt like 'ours' for the night since there are such a small number of rooms but each was large, very well decorated and... More

The Chateau is impressive in appearance only. Sitting high atop a hill, overlooking vineyards and the ocean. My wife and I scouted out the property and after several requests we finally got someone to show us a room. Initially we were told to look at pictures of the rooms. The reception area is actually down the hill and located within... More

Chateau Valmy is one of the many jewels of the Cote Vermeille and a veritable Disney like fairy tale castle that is very hard to miss if holidaying in the area. Designed by Danish architect V. D. Petersen in 1888 the Chateau is surrounded by a 24 hectare vineyard producing fine wines, four of which are dry and two vins... More

My husband surprised me with this wonderful location and magical "castle". The peaceful, and picturesque location adds a magic and charm like no other. The rooms are spacious and the views from the french windows serene. Breakfast is catered in true french style, and the elegance should be experienced by all lovers of fine things. We enjoyed two wonderful nights... More

Having viewed the Chateau from afar during previous breaks to Sorede, I took the first downpour for two months to be a good prompt to visit the Chateau. Although I didn't go to the hotel, I did visit the cellar, which has been refurbished over the past year (with more still being done), As not currently in harvest season, the... More

A few days before we were due to stay I had an email asking what time we would arrive. Despite arriving within 20 minutes of my estimate there was no one there to greet us - we couldn't even get into the grounds. To cut a very long story short, I eventually came across the Housekeeper (guardian) of the Chateau... More

Our second visit was as pleasurable as our first. The weather was kinder this visit so we got to enjoy the pool. Fabulous! Great location for visiting Collioure and the Cote Vermeille. The vineyard attached to the chateau produces some very good wine. Mdme Carbonnell will be happy to offer you a tasting. Thank you again and 'a bientot'.
