Hotel Boucicaut - very quirky hotel. Lots of pluses but a few minuses. Inside is fresh and spotlessly clean. We had a ground floor room which was light and airy and very comfortable. No pleasing view but we only stayed one night. Large bathroom and wide entrances so would be ideal for someone with limited mobility or in a wheelchair.... More

Nice quiet hotel within walking distance of the train station and convenient to the old town and the cruise dock. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room on the first floor was very nice and the bathroom was great.Lovely garden outside our room with tables to sit and enjoy coffee or read. The only negative was there was no... More

This hotel is set back quietly from the road, yet well placed for the town centre. We didn't mind the extra €7 for parking, but we thought the breakfast overpriced. Fine if you like cheese, salami, and so on, but for €4.50 you can sit in a nearby café and enjoy a croissant and good hot coffee instead. The bath... More

Not far from Chalon centre. Nicely decorated rooms, good beds, but very noisy. We heard the neighbors as if they were talking in our room... Breakfast was ok. Very friendly owners, very helpful. But not really cheap, compared to better hotels. Especially the lack of acoustic insulation is a problem.

Very pretty hotel. Great and friendly staff. We got held up so was going to arrive later than expected. called them and they couldn't have been more helpful with instructions to get in after normal opening hours. Spoke great English when I tried In my poor French :-) . On arrival got into the hotel with ease and room key... More

En route through France stayed at this hotel for one night. The outside only slightly prepares you for the inside by the presence of a mural painted on the wall outside, large bees and a vine. Inside the theme continues. It is tiled throughout, the bee appears, rooms are spacious ours had a door out onto the garden. Soundproofing is... More

We - my wife and me - stay just for one night. For that it was ok: clean and a big room. Friendly service - really friendly. For us it was to far away from the centre - but we know that before - so you have to take your car or a taxi. For eating go to Rue de... More

A great place for a stop over but lack of hot water at night a disappointment hence not quite top marks. Lots of hot water in morning though. Recommended an excellent local restaurant. Home made jam a bonus at breakfast and the owner delightful.

Be sure to call the hotel up before arrival so they can confirm your booking. I booked through Booking.com and had confirmation, though when we arrived they claimed they had no record of our booking. So instead of having the 2 connecting rooms I had booked - we were all squashed into one room with the kids on the floor.... More

Spent three nights here while my spouse did research at the photography museum/archive. A very welcoming place, convenient to train station and downtown. One reviewer's comment about the huge, soulless apartment buildings is accurate, but the charm of Chalon comes through nonetheless, and La Villa Boucicault reflects that. Laure, the owner/manager is amazing, and she's on top of everything, including... More
