I've always had a preference for a door on the bathroom myself, but I suppose that, being married, we know each other well enough not to be too inhibited in each other's company. Other than this we enjoyed our night in Montlucon, which is a beautifully preserved mediaeval city, and the hotel was certainly OK; breakfast was fine, the staff... More

We stopped here on the way home after driving through France. We wanted something different from the usual budget hotels and were not disappointed. The hotel was easy to find a ten minute drive fro the A71 with free parking in a yard behind. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and recommended places to eat and a... More

We stopped over on our way back from the South and I chose the hotel because of the room sizes..we are a family of four and had a good sized room with two double and a single. The staff were so friendly, really helpful about parking (secure garage available) and where to eat. They even gave out bags of croissants... More

On first impressions this hotel has a touch of Faulty Towers about it.... Old style reception desk, old wooded stairs, small lift .... But very friendly staff and when you reach your room you will be very pleasantly surprised! In fact the bedrooms are in total contrast to the rest of the hotel. Very modern, rain forest shower, flat screen... More

My husband has already written his review but he had a nicer room. My main gripe is that we were given a tiny and tatty room with peeling paint, stinking of old cigarettes and curtains that didn't meet in the middle. This seriously made me question why they advertise this as a hotel with modern rooms, well ours certainly wasn't!!

Good things: Location, near the railway station with plenty of parking close by. A charming manager who could not do enough to help. A very good and inexpensive breakfast in a bright and attractive dining room. One of the best I've had in a long time. However: Room 217 may be non-smoking now but it takes more than a sign... More

Having booked into a nearby "budget" hotel we used the free wifi to find a nicer hotel....this one did not disappoint!! We made a last minute booking, receptionist was EXTREMELY helpful and we managed to get a good night's rest in a clean, welcoming hotel. The only thing missing was air conditioning or a fan. Very comfortable beds. Would use... More

Initial impressions were poor as they did not seem to have the details of our booking (we wanted twin beds rather than a double bed); we were put in a room with a double bed with a fold down bed and told that he would make up the fold down bed if wanted, which we did. There were renovations going... More

This hotel had nicely appointed rooms, not exactly what I would classify as a romantic spot, but perfect for the business traveller. I got the impression that the rooms (and indeed the hotel) had recently received a remodel / facelift, as the wallpaper looked new, as did several if the fittings. My room was spacious, the bed comfortable, views of... More
