The Hotel Kyriad, Montlucon is situated on the left bank of the River Cher across the water and near the centre of Montlucon. That’s what initially attracted me as I made my way south for an existential poetry convention; the experience that greeted me, however, could be described as something of a journey into the dark heart of decay. The... More

Sited very near the centre of the city we felt this would be a good choice for four of us travelling on motorcycles. Situated on the edge of the shopping area with masses of parking, immediately next to the Carrefour and Flunch, that was as good as it got. The hotel is very run down. There were several patches of... More

We broke our journey from Beziers to Calais, stopping at the Kyriad Montlucon. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and everything was very clean - we usually use F1 or Premiere Classe, so this was a joy having our own bathroom and loo, with interconnecting doors to the children's room. The exterior and stairwells look a bit tatty, but clean... More

It's not great. It's basic, you get a bed, shower. I've stayed in worse and I've stayed in better. Confusion over check in as booked via Expedia and still not sure what the problem was...still. The bedrooms were clean, a little tired and unremarkable. We didn't eat there, not even breakfast. Yes the carpets are very stained in the corridors.... More

I cannot believe the noise, the heat in this hotel. A big sign on the lift door telling you that the aircon has been switched off for the whole hotel, in the middle of the summer what a farce. I almost roasted all night but didn't sleep.

Tired, grubby and run down hotel which is situated in a supermarket car park. No working airco, uncomfortable bed, drug takers hanging around in the evening. The most rude, unhelpful and unprofessional staff i have ever experienced. Our stay there really marred the return journey of a wonderful holiday. Do not stay here!

This hotel does not have a restaurant and the staff were not very helpful. The overall appearance was tired. Parking was in a public car park. The nearest restaurant was a Buffalo Grill on the other side of the river or in the super market complex

When we search for Hotels to stay at we ask for Secure parking a Restaurant and WiFi. We do not expect to specify a clean bathroom bedroom etc.The car park is shared with a burger outlet, Carrefour and a shopping mall, so not really secure then. Things got worse The rude and unhelpful staff and the location in the middle... More

We stayed here on a Tuesday in September when Montlucon's hotels seemed to be all full. Hotel OK but in need of modernisation. The smell of tobacco smoke in the corridor not a great welcome. The area's a bit iffy on a shopping centre, but just a short walk from the bridge to take you into the old town. Parking... More

We took a 68 € double room. When we tried to get in to the room the door wouldn't open, and the receptionist fiddled with the lock then charged the stuck door open. The door stuck again at bedtime, so we were removed to another room at 2315. The room was decent-sized, but the air-con was broken with the control... More
