Mont Dore is a great town for exploring the gorgeous mountains and valleys of this area and the Grand Hotel has a good location with free parking in the center. We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times on our way to the south of france. It's a small, comfortable hotel, with very friendly owners who really make a fuss over the children. Grand Hotel is centrally situated in the Le Mont-Dore. Located near shopping and restaurants, it is in a good area to serve as a home base. The hotel is in a restored building from the 1800s. We stayed for one night en route to a cycle tour in the Dordogne then the Alps. The husband and wife team who run the hotel were exceptionally helpful when we struggled in with our bikes and luggage, and were genuinely warm and attentive. This is a comfortable, old fashioned hotel right in the center of a small, beautiful city.
