This Pet friendly inexpensive Hotel is set in a Grand old building in a charming village and has much to offer the traveller whether passing through or using as a base to explore the many interesting attractions close by. Although parts of the Hotel needs investment, the rooms are clean and very large, creaky and very typically French. A handfull of multi-tasking... More

The hotel has seen better days and it is a great shame years ago I would think this was the place to be seen and be seen in The bedroom was very big clean and was of a good standard I ate in the hotel grand restaurant which would have been full of grand people years ago but its a... More

This is like a grand chateau with massive rooms and old furniture. The bedrooms and bathrooms however, are well decorated and bathrooms in particular are very modern. Our bedroom was bigger than most suites I have stayed in and had wonderful views across a valley and open air theatre area. Chatel Guyon is a spa town where they specialise in... More

This old thermal center, shows it's age, but also by the nice space full rooms and commons. Ideal for a severally days stay in the Auvergne, close to the Vulcania parc. Very practical to have communicating rooms, with childn. The swimming pool is very welcome in august's heats, nice and clean, good size. Good breakfast, nothing exceptional but better than... More

Reading previous reviews it seems that since a change in ownership recently, the management are slowly improving the service. However, service in the restaurant is lamentably slow and even drinks service - surely the main profit maker for a hotel restaurant - can be very slow or sometimes forgotten about entirely. Food served on a fixed menu basis during my... More

At time of booking this hotel was No 1 or thereabouts on Trip Advisor of many in Chatelguyon. I booked this mainly because the Novotel near Clermont Ferrand was full, where we had stopped before. Anyway, I won't be stopping here again. The downsides outweighed the good. The bed was rock hard. The pillows were harder. No tea or coffee... More

the village is lovely, the area colourful and typical, th esurroundings lush and green... and amongst all that, stands what had to be a really grand and magnificent hotel. about 40 years ago.... it still looks good and i could clearly see that some kind of renovation was taking place. it is always hard to criticise those properties who's history...
