When you travel to Europe, you look for that feel that can only be found there, the Maison du Notaire Royal has that feeling. It has some old world, quaint, romantic and exceptional. The keys were old fashion, and reminded me of my childhood, the floors were really old hardwood, so beautiful. Everything has been preserved so well, I loved... More

We stayed here 5 nights in June. Sarlat is an excellent centre for the various attractions of the area, which our host was very keen we should not miss. Besides plenty of helpful information he also provided us with a spacious and clean room (no.3), furnished, like the rest of the old house, with characterful period items. The wide double... More

We loved the Maison du Notaire on our recent visit to Sarlat. Others have captured the experience, we wanted to note that Pierre graciously gave us great recommendations for our drive from Sarlat to Bordeaux, making it almost a treasure hunt in Dordogne. We luckily were able to book room 2 that overlooks the square. Simply amazing.

Sarlat is such a charming city, and La Maison du Notaire Royale was the perfect spot for our 3-night stay in early May. The building dates back to the 17th century, and has been in the Toulemon family for more than 150 years. To have the opportunity to stroll through so many lovely streets, to see and visit so many... We stayed at La Maison du Notaire B&B for 4 nights, the market square and old city is right outside the back door, great host who was always eager to share directions and information about not only the usual attractions of the area but also less known and visited sites that were very interesting and worth a visit. very nice... We have stayed here just one night but we were really very impressed by the room, set in an historic house at the very Center of Sarlac. The host told us the history of the building and introduced us to the different parts.

We stayed at La Maison du Notaire for 10 days in the delightful town of Sarlat. The B & B is located just off the main market square yet parking was easy. Our balcony overlooked the market. Breakfast was jam and breads with juice and hot drinks. The best was our host and the way he had all the area... More

The location of this hotel is perfect, just very slightly off the place de la liberte. It is housed within a beautiful, mediaeval building with a rather eccentric feel. Our large, double bedroom was furnished with lovely old french furniture and led onto a small balcony which looked onto the square. We had a very comfortable stay and Monsieur Touleman... More

What a fantastic old building and what a gracious host! We had a wonderful stay. I recommend you book two nights, because there is so much to see in the surrounding area. We sat on our little balcony, overlooking the town square, with a bottle of the local wine...heaven! Excellent value for money.Wonderful location, perfect host!

We stayed three nights at La Maison du Notaire Royal in June, 2014, and had a wonderful time! Our room in this medieval Bed & Breakfast was quite large, with two double beds and a twin. We enjoyed the opportunity to stay in a place that was built in the 17th century, but still comfortable for today's traveller! The bathroom... More
