We selected our stay at La Lanterne based on prior Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Our 16 day trip started in Paris and ended in St Emilion. We stayed at La Lanterne for 2 nights and it was a true highlight for two reasons: 1) Sarlat and the Dordogne Valley are breathtaking; and 2) the hospitality that... More

La Lanterne is a true Gem in this beautiful medieval town, it is perfectly situated in the old town, steps from great restaurants, shops and the market is practically at the door step. Richard and Debby are warm, welcoming and exceptionally friendly. They made us feel like we were staying with old friends, Richard prepares a great breakfast every morning,... More

Our stay in Sarlat was truly the highlight of our trip to France - partly because it's beauty was so unexpected and partly because we fortunately booked La Lanterne as our base for touring. After a day of caves, beautiful hill towns and stunning rivers we were cozy and comfortable at La Lanterne. We felt terribly pampered by Richard and... More

We spent a week touring the Dordogne and Sarlat was our base. La Lanterne was a perfect place to stay -- just above the fray of Sarlat, which is pretty insane with tourists in August (especially during the farmers market on Saturday, but it's worth it; the food is delicious) and close enough that we could be in the thick... We are usually not B &B people, but La Lanterne will convert anyone. From our arrival and throughout our 4 day stay, Richard and Debby were simply wonderful. From lugging our baggage smilingly, preparing excellent and generous breakfasts, sitting and schmoozing over a glass of wine, these warm caring souls were Innkeepers par excellence. Just a very comfortable place to stay.... More

We stayed at Roy and Terri's B&B for four days and had a great time from the moment we got there. Roy helped with our bags, showed us where to park and then made us a nice cup of tea. They have a lovely court yard with tables and chairs where we sat to have a drink each night which... More

If you are planning to visit the Dordogne area, Sarlat is centrally located to anything you will want to do or see. The medieval city center is fairly small (and darling) yet large enough to offer a variety of restaurants and shops (and a great Saturday market). Do yourself a favor and stay at La Laterne. I can't imagine there... More

Conveniently located in the "old town" part of Sarlat within easy walking to restaurants and shops. Nice home base for visiting the surrounding area. Do yourself a favor and find a paid place to park and search for the B&B on foot. If you have a GPS it will try to take you through the central town square which is... More

Thank you Richard and Debbie for all you do for your guests! We really enjoyed staying at La Lanterne. You were very helpful in making our visit to Sarlat a great one. It was wonderful to stay in the Medieval section of the city and be able to walk everywhere easily. We appreciated your restaurant recommendations, both excellent. The breakfast... More

We could not fault La Lanterne and hope to return one day. Debbie and Richard are the perfect hosts running a charming bed and breakfast in a gorgeous cobble stoned lane right in central Sarlat. Richard provided us with a great breakfast every morning, this was an optional breakfast but we would fully recommend staying at the b and b... More
