The reception was warm and freindly with a small-town feel. The elevator is tiny, so we used the stairs. The room is very clean. The bathroom is tight. The bedding was very comfortable. The view out the front to the tiny rotary and neighborhood was entertaining. The full European breakfast buffet opened early in the morning. The location was fantastic,... More

Part of the fortifications of old Sarlat made into a nice hotel bit of a rabbit warren but oozes charm and history - we stayed 5 nights was great - staff were friendly and happy to help - paid for breakfast (normal in France) was plentiful and good - the place needs some love but everything neat and tidy bed... We only stayed one night on our way to the Languedoc, but we shall definitely come back. The hotel is so full of charm, steeped in history and a pleasure to experience. Creaky corridors, winding steps, interesting alcoves and yet the bedrooms are beautifully decorated mixing old with new. We had a very comfortable night and the restaurant is second... More

We had the displeasure of spending New Year at La Couleuvrine after hunting for somewhere to stay in Sarlat. We phoned them in advanced and my husband, a native level French speaker, asked them if they could cater for a vegetarian at New Year. We were assured they could and also told the town was a wonderful place to see... More

This is a two-star hotel, and it's a two-star hotel for a reason. Most rooms are very small, and oddly shaped, the building being a former monestary. Our room was so small, in fact, that it was hard to open the door without bumping into the bed. And there was no room to store suitcases. We had, however, a large... More

La Couleuvrine is a friendly, family run hotel, located on the edge of the historic centre of Sarlat, which is just a two minute walk away. Although there is no free parking outside, when we arrived, we were helpfully directed to a free car park nearby. It takes just five minutes to walk from there (down steps and a fairly... More

This hotel is in a central location of the town, in a very historic building. The price we paid was decent, however the hotel needs some updating as the furnishings and especially the carpet are a bit worn and the bathroom looks like it could use an update.

Our room was a dank cell, not airconditioned, so small, my husband and I could not get dressed at the same time. I requested a change of room, the proprietress said no, there was nothing she could do, besides we had a special rate. We paid the rate that they set. There was no explanation that this was a sub... I spent two night at La Couleuvrine. I was in a small back room with one window. It was warm (82F), no A/C. The room only cooled off to 76F during the night. I have a thermometer on my clock. I survived thanks to a fan. The hotel is a little old and worn, but they do keep it clean.... More

good value for the money. I will start by saying during our two week trip covering a large area of France, Sarlat was our favorite. This hotel is close to if not in the historic center. it was a one to two minute walk from the main square with shops, restaurants, etc and where the Wednesday morning market is. There... More
