Had lunch with my wife and adult sons, not a special occasion just wanted to treat and spoil ourselves. We knew what to expect as we have been several times before but had not been for approximately 4 years. We were not disappointed, food, service and ambience was excellent. I had the €44 menu my wife and sons had the... More

My girlfriend and I have came from the Loire castles trough very typical French landscapes and arriving in this beautiful small city of Brantome. It is a real gem inside the very mysterious Dordogne region. We have started to look for an hotel and we have arrived at the hotel Charbonnel a very charming place. We wanted to find something... We enjoyed our recent stay at Hotel Restaurant Charbonnel. Stayed for 2 nights. There were 3 adults; we had what they called the family room in a separate building just across the street from the main building. We had 2 good-sized rooms and a good-sized bathroom which was very clean. The location is very pretty, right on the Dronne River,... More

If you have dreamed of a small, family-run hotel with an excellent restaurant in a in a picturesque French provincial town, you need look no further. The Hotel Restaurant Charbonnel is so good that I am almost reluctant to share its pleasures. So, reluctantly, and on the basis of nearly twenty years of having enjoyed my stays in this very... We stayed two nights. We had a large room on the first level with a small balcony overlooking the river. The owner was very welcoming. This is a very comfortable hotel. Public car-parking is just across the road. Brantome is a very pretty town and worth a visit.

My wife and I and 2 dogs stayed here for the second time. All staff, especially the receptionist, were very welcoming and would happily speak english when my schoolboy french let me down (often!). Our stay could have been further enhanced if tea and coffee facilities were available in the room and a niggle for us was the plastic "glasses"... More

Great value for money, typically French, superb location, well worth it! The hotel is not 4 star so don't expect it, the restaurant was though! Great front of house, excellent restaurant staff, delicious food - an absolutely superb place to stay! Very good value for money, will definitely stay there again, and highly recommend it for what it is.

We stayed for a single night in March having tried to stay in the previous week but the hotel was shut. The room was lovely with a good sized bed and a good bathroom (although there was no shower which would have been perfect). One slight drawback was that we found that we couldn't turn down the heating. The restaurant... More

Stayed here for one night in November, on a 4 stay night in the Dordogne. Brantome was recommended to me by a friend and didn't disappoint. Very pretty. The Hotel Chabonnel is a very nice hotel located right on the river and a short walk to the town and Abbey. We stayed in a superior double overlooking the river and... More
