My wife and I stayed here for one night with our two dogs. Our room ( 35 ) overlooked the river and had traditional French décor and a small balcony. It was ideal for us. The receptionist (owner?) was very helpful and welcoming and spoke excellent English. The hotel is perfectly located for enjoying the small picturesque town of Brantome... More

We stayed at Hotel Charbonnel in October and the hotel is very quaint and has a great location overlooking a beautiful river. Brantome is a small, very walk-able city, but unfortunately most of the city was closed during our entire stay, which fell on Sunday and Monday nights (not the fault of the hotel, but our faults as ignorant tourists).... This is a superb choice all-the-way-around for a stay in Brantome. Only the much more expensive La Moulin de l'Abbaye enjoys a better location, and it is fraught with high-price disappointments. From check-in through check-it it is perfectly clear the staff at Charbonnel care about your total experience. Book a room with a balcony overlooking the river (room 40 is... More

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch sitting on the terrace by the river in Brantome. This town is a must visit as is this restaurant. It has a 5 star feel, silver service, very good staff and great food. Wines prices a little higher than average but well worth it. We shall return but be sure to book, Alfresco on... More

Spent 3 nights here with the family in one of the family rooms. Fantastic stay and excellent value for money. They really went the extra mile at every occasion from our initial late arrival, to the end of our stay. The room was huge with a separate curtained off area for the kids, plus a dressing area beside our area... More

After a catastrophic experience with Avis Car Rental, in which a business trip was interrupted due to a vehicle problem, I was directed to this hotel which was only 400 metres away from a garage where we were stranded. Fortunately, the owner Madame Charbonnel was on duty and greeted us. The problems with Avis were ongoing and Madame Charbonnel spent... More

We stayed at this lovely hotel two years ago and, although we enjoyed it, it seemed a little too busy, and the staff seemed a bit stressed. This time was very different. We had a lovely room with balcony overlooking the river and bridge. Staff seemed more relaxed and friendly, and although we were only here for one night, it... More

We finally got back for a weekend treat we promised ourselves when we stayed overnight the previous year. This time we had a room on the 2nd floor with it's individual balcony overlooking the bridge and the river, as I recall this is a larger room than those on the 1st floor which share a communal balcony. We enjoyed one... More

Last weekend we stayed at this lovely hotel with a couple of friends. First of all we were concerned where to park but the hotel staff soon showed us where to park so we did not have to pay. Everyone is really professional and friendly. My husband tried his best to converse in French and this seemed to be appreciated.... More

Lovely Hotel, had a good out look over the river and it was well presented. The rooms were a bit small but nice [typical French]. The staff were excellent and very helpful, they even came out to move there car so we could park. Breakfast was very good, the restaurant was fine dining so we chose to eat out, there... More
