An old family home turned into a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel, at 140euros for 2 for 1 night it was expensive and unexceptional, especially when breakfast was 10 euros each for a pot of coffee, stale croissant and a few bread rolls. The last straw was being charged 6 euros for a small bottle of water from... More

First impression is of a grand house filled with antiques. Parking is secure through electronic gates at the front of the house. The owner greeted us and pointed out his Grandmother who was sitting motionless in what we assumed was the dining room. Having driven a long distance we requested coffee after installing ourselves in our room. This seemed to... More

Branded hotels have their place, but our short stay at the stunning Chateau des Jacobins was one to savour. A very friendly welcome from the proprietor, clear bi-lingual introduction/instructions and a beautifully furnished room. We really were made to feel special.

Staying in this hotel was an adventure--one that we enjoyed very much. The proprietors, a woman and her middle-aged grandson, are delightful people who received us warmly. Monsieur Bujan suggested we leave our luggage in the car and take upstairs only what we could easily carry. We appreciated the advice. The room was original--very comfortable with a lovely view, decorated... More

A fine building in a quiet area of the town while at the same time very central, with secure parking behind electronic gates. It contains a lot of antique furniture and pictures, but the public areas are decorated in dubious taste. The owner/manager is rather in your face - literally, as he gave my wife a quite unsolicited kiss on... More

If you are looking for modern and fresh, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to have a comfortable vintage time in an French Inn, this is a wonderful stop over with an attentive staff and wonderful breakfast. The rooms are small, but have quaint views of the city.

It was rather like staying in a National Trust property, with many personal items around. The patron was very (almost too) friendly. Our room was on the ground floor opening into the garden but didn't feel secure enough to leave doors open at night. A bit noisy in the night with party and home goers.. The breakfast was modest ,... Lovely, older building, well located in the centre of Agen, within very easy walking distance of all you would want to see and do in the town. The rooms are large, very high ceilings with furniture to match! It is a fascinating house to look round and the patron, Stephane, speaks good English and will recommend restaurants to try that... A beautiful old Chateau right in the centre of the old city, running as a hotel / guest house. The room sizes vary (therefore the prices - suggest you check) but you can still feel the grandeur of the building and its furnishings. It could double as a museum. Quirky.

The main attraction of Jacobins is that it is an attractive old house centrally located in Agen and with secure parking (see photo). The house is decorated in a very imaginative style and contains many antiques and good quality furniture. Our room, on the ground floor, was very well appointed and with, what appeared to be, a newly renovated bathroom... More
