It seems hard to believe that this hotel is only a two-star one. The rooms have a lovely luxurious feel to them, are spacious and representative of the region's traditions. Each room is named after a regional wine, dish or attraction. You begin your hotel experience by entering the old elegant courtyard, climbing the wooden staircase and finding your room... More

The town’s original Gouverneur lived here; central location with stunning courtyard, ramparts on one side, the Old Town on the other. Cosy room, roomy shower and separate WC, free WiFi and free protected and locked garage. Restaurant for buffet breakfast only; many restaurants walking distance in the Old Town. Excellent price for date booked, efficient and friendly service from all... More

Arrived only at 11pm because of horrible traffic jam, but we were helped by friendly personnel at the front desk, which only closes at midnight. Reserved a room with 4 beds, but got a well furnished communicating one, with a double bed + a single bed (of no use for us) in the first quarter, and 2 single beds in... More

We stayed here twice during February to break up the long drive from the UK to Austria. The hotel was easy to find (only 20 minutes from Strasbourg), and the friendly (English speaking) staff made us feel very welcome upon our arrival. The rooms are set around a picturesque courtyard and are beautifully decorated. Both the rooms that we stayed... More

We were here for two nights and it was a great base for exploring Obernai and Strasbourg. The rooms were clean, large and tastefully decorated. It is conveniently located in town and just a 5 minute walk to the train station. By train, it is 30 minutes to Strasbourg. There is a large, free public parking area behind the hotel... More

We enjoyed 3 nights in the Gouverneur hotel in early October. We had the biggest room in the hotel, which was actually a suite with 2 bedrooms, a toilet, and separate bathroom. The bathroom was really not well-laid out at all, with a tiny shower and the sink the was too close to the shower so you couldn't bend over it... More

As titled, the hotel worked well. We were on a school trip from Finland, and stayed at LE GOuverneur for 2 nights. The first impression was great 'cause I realised that the reception woman spoke perfect english. The room was nice and cosy, and the internet worked well aswell. Location is perfect ; you can walk everywhere around the little... More

If you are expecting 5 stars, you are in the wrong place. Overall this is a great place to stay, but remember you are in a building that is a few hundred years old. Some of the bathrooms could do with a renovation, but nothing that would turn anyone off. Location in Obernai is central, and the drive in to... More

Having read good reviews on Tripadvisor we found this hotel a bit disappointing. The room was rather gloomy and the whole place had a slightly drab feel. We were also staying during a heatwave. There was no air conditioning and although a fan was provided, our room faced into the courtyard which meant that the air was still stifling. Otherwise... More

This historic, charming hotel was the perfect choice for exploring the Alsace region. The staff was warm and welcoming (and bi- or tri-lingual), the room was very comfortable (comfy beds!) and nicely appointed, and the bountiful breakfast was a great way to start our day. The courtyard was a nice place to eat breakfast or just relax for a few... More
