Visited with other family members recently on way home from holiday. What a find! Good selection of real ales on the bar, both local and national. Pleasant surroundings both inside and out, particularly on a sunny day by the river. Varied menu appealing to all ages with 'daily specials' on the board as well. When the food arrived it was... We had a one night stay here just to get away for a night. The staff were chatty, welcoming and helpful. Our room was small and a bit run down and tired, in need of decorating and furniture repair. The room looked out over the car park, early morning the sun streamed into the room which was nice in a... More

We had a couple of meals here last week , the first was as a result of the owner Phil inviting us to his 5 th anniversary party , such a nice bloke , we were staying at a farm B&B up the road and went in for a pint in the afternoon , asked about food at the pub... More

Stayed here one night and couldn't have been happier. Our room though a little small had a great view over the little river at the back of the hotel. Dining room menu was good with some blackboard selections, food was delicious and breakfast more than ample. Lovely little country pub extremely quite during the night.

My husband and I together with my brother and sister In law stayed here for two nights as part of a touring holiday. When we arrived the bar was very busy and only one person to serve drinks, food and deal with arriving guests so we waited a while to be seen, not the young ladies fault! Once she was... More

We arrived on Saturday (24th May 2014) around about 6.30pm after a particularly arduous journey in heavy rain. The welcome we received left a lot to be desired. We were given the room key and decided to have a couple of drinks in the bar. The first lot of drinks were served with no problem, however when it came to... More

We stopped here on our route up to Alnwick. We found it a very friendly place. The room was not the best lay out or design and the WiFi only works in the bar and there is virtually no mobile system. Although our room didn't have one, the hotel has great views over the adjacent river. The food was excellent,... More

The Elks Head was simply a perfect location to meet with my family, the hotel was very friendly and had a lovely relaxing atmosphere, the food really good, and the area was great for walking and exploring! We had a lovely day visiting Vindolanda & Hadrians Wall.... Inspiring us all to do the walk! Our room was in the extension... More
