This is a lovely hotel set in a beautiful area, surrounded by fantastic scenery. If you like to walk there are plenty of places to go. If you just want to relax then there is a lovely beer garden. The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much bother. Room: clean with a rally comfortable bed and tea/coffee... More

My husband had an early appointment at Hexham hospital, rather than have to travel 1 and half hours, our daughter booked a double room en-suite 3 days previously to be close. On our arrival we were given a single room. When we said that was not appropriate and not what was booked, we were told that was all there was.... More

We are sorry your experience of the Elks Head didn't live up to your expectations and I apologise for the aspects of your stay that weren't of the high standards that we set ourselves. We will look into some of the points you have made and try to rectify them as soon as possible. However as we discussed when you... More

In a lovely tranquil spot, we visited Hadrians wall but generally went for a bit of relaxation. Young guy behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming and had time for everyone. We ate in the restaurant one night and the bar the following night, the food was first class on both occasions. On the down side our room was... More

My wife & I stayed at this pub mainly because we could take the dog. Whilst she wasn't allowed in the restaurant we were made very welcome in the bar area. We found the staff, rooms & food very good and would definitely recommend the pub. Great place to see the area.

We stayed at this pub whilst motor biking round this lovely area. The room was in a separate annexe and was clean with tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries. We ate in the restaurant. Meals were excellent and staff were friendly. Good beer on tap.

My husband and I stayed here for one night and found it excellent. Friendly, helpful staff and great food in picturesque surroundings. Nothing else in the area but a good base for visiting the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Ideal for Hexham, Corbridge, Allendale and Alston and not too far from Scottish border.

We stayed here for two nights while visiting the area. Our room (9) was compact but clean and well presented with tea and coffee making facilities which included biscuits. The large shower room was equipped with clean white towels and toiletries. The breakfasts were delicious, being cooked to order with plenty of tea, coffee and toast. We ate our evening... More

We had an enjoyable night at the Elks Head. Food in the bar is straightforward pub grub - tasty, well presented and good value for money. Our bedroom in the annex was clean and comfortable - the only disadvantage is that you can hear noise from other rooms.
