We were early coming off the SDWay and needed to fill in time before heading to our B&B. Ordered a cappuccino, double shot. It was served in a small cup and was an acceptable caffeine fix. But,upon paying, we were charged 4 pounds! A single is 3 pounds, plus one pound for extra shot... We mentioned politely to the very pleasant girl... More

I am sorry that you feel that our prices are too high, I do try to keep everything we offer at a competitive price. Our coffee price is the same as it was before I bought The Bluebell, although I now use fresh ground coffee as apposed to the coffee pods used previously. with regard to the extra cost for... More

Walking the South Downs Way, so arrived tires at 4pm. Simon was very welcoming, showed us to nice room(4) which was more than adequate. Nice hot shower. Dinner was brilliant. Busy restaurant with lovely food and great waitress service. Probably the best dinner I have had in years. Would definitely drive 25 miles to enjoy that again. Yes the B&B... More

Better to sleep under a hedge if you cannot find alternative accommodation. Arrived footsore at 5 to find that the place doesn't even open until six, and when they did finally open the receptionist was at best curt. My companion, who hadn't booked ahead, wanted to know if there was a room free, and one was offered at the same... More

Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns regarding your stay. I have to say it isn't unusual to be asked to pay for your room on arrival. I have been in the hotel industry for 28 years and every hotel I have worked in or stayed in has been the same. The frame on the wall that... More

We were in need of somewhere to stay and the Bluebell had a room. We felt it was expensive for what it was, and the cleanliness wasn't great. The restaurant on site was good as the location is out of the way. The staff were friendly, but we wouldn't stay there again.

We stayed here with two friends while walking the South Downs Way. On our arrival, Simon, the landlord, provided us with a warm and friendly welcome. He has recently taken over the running of the inn and has made great progress. Our supper was excellent and the atmosphere felt very relaxing with a mixture of locals and visitors dining and... More

I stayed with 2 mates after cycling from Brighton over the South Downs Way. There's cycle racks at the back that you can lock bikes to and Simon also let us use his hose to clean our bikes. Comfortable night's sleep after dinner and a few pints of Ballard's. Mason and Miller toiletries (not that it means anything to me,... More

Enjoyable overnight stay. Good food, both dinner and breakfast and excellent Ballards beer. This is a great place to stop if you are travelling the South Downs Way. The place is in need of some decorative improvement but a lot has been done already. Rome wasn't built in a day. It's clear the staff care about what they do so... More

Good service, good food, reasonable rates. Very convenient for Goodwood races, car or horse. The restaurant has a good selection of well prepared food in the evening. A full English breakfast is included but cereal, toast etc also available. Rooms are not large but perfectly acceptable for over night/weekend stay.

We had hoped and were cautiously optimistic that a change of Ownership would bring great things to the Bluebell. We have visited twice since, and we were disappointed on both occasions. The menu is unexciting, and apparently the open fire in the bar area "is too much trouble" to keep going. So, there is no real improvement in the ambience... More

I am sorry that you feel we haven't done a good job in the very short space of time we have been here. 11 weeks isn't a long time to change the things that were needed. I am also sorry you felt our menu was uninspiring, we do try to cater for the tastes of everyone as much as we... More
