5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I became sceptical after reading all the reviews here. Surprisingly, I am actually very happy and satisfied with the hotel after staying 2 nights. The room is spacious, clean and quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful. I had my ala-carte dinner at the restaurant, although quite expensive (anyway what is not expensive in Norway?). The Wifi is likely not... More

We stayed here after our ferry from flam .We were heading to Voss the next day. We were given the most basic room. The place was completely booked and bustling with tourists. The room was small with a bunk bed. Its neat with some amateur decorations. There is a wash basin in the room which was a good idea considering... More

We stayed at Gudvangen Fjordtell one night as it was very close to Flam railway. Beautiful surroundings makes this place very special. We stayed in one of those viking rooms. Great idea of glass roof makes your stay even more incredible as from your bed you can see waterfalls coming down the mountains - unforgettable experience. The restaurant is just... More

We stayed here for thee nights and booked one of the Viking rooms. It was nice and beautiful location but a few things which I hadn't expected let the overall trip down a little: 1) the Viking room has glass ceiling and would be amazing at certain times of the year when nights are darker but if going in summer... Even though the little appartment is clean, the comfort is very basic and style is old fashioned. The hotel is a big touristic machine, with a huge restaurant with no charm. The food is overpriced and awful (10€ for a frozen sandwich). Breakfast is quite nice Place to be avoided if yoh wish a cosy place

We liked our stay at Gudvangen. Rooms are simple but nice, cosy and well isolated from both the cold and the noise (cascades). Breathtaking view from the breakfast room and terrace. NB that there is no fridge or minibar, and no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which would have been a plus. Breakfast ok but nothing amazing.

we stayed one night after doing the Fjord cruise & Flam Train trips. We had a chalet in the grounds and there was free parking. The main room was OK for size but the third bed was a pull-out with one of the laths missing. I slept Ok in it though and the other two beds were comfy. The en-suite... More

We came here to take part in the yearly Viking market. It was our first trip but will not be our last. We were of course hoping to be lucky enough to get one of the Viking rooms but understandably, giving that the place was full of Vikings, there were none available so we got a standard room. The room... More

I wasn't sure what I had done when I arrived at this place. It was booked as a stopping point to the "Norway in a nutshell" tour. The rooms are horribly tacky, but quite comfortable. I could look out the skylight and see waterfalls above. Luckily I travel with an eye mask, so sleeping wasn't a problem. The hotel staff... More

Gudvangen is more quiet place than Flam. So if you want to avoid thousands of tourists it's better to stay here. We stayed in Viking room with glass ceiling. It's absolutely fantastic atmosphere of being one-by-one with nature. The only thing which bothers is WiFi, which should work in public areas, but in fact did not function one evening.
