Gudvangen is a very small town with no where else to go. The hotel is a special one which you are able to stare the star all night long. However when it is a cloudy day without star, you would like to watch TV or surf in the web. Unfortunately there is no TV and Internet inside the room. The... More

Gudvangen is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. The hotel is very interesting with big rooms and "Viking" decor. The view in the dinning room is spectacular. The food just average. But it's all about location, location, location and this locations is beautiful.

I'm over in Norway visiting the Fjords. Coming from the USA, you should immediately knock one-star off all the hotels (meaning- lower your expectations). Location: perfect. Right in the Naeyefjord (rated the prettiest). The ferry to Flam is 50 yards away. The room: Ok. So there are two types of people: those that backpacked in Europe before, and those that... More

We had perfect stay. We order the budget cheap room but because they had rooms they offer to upgrad us to the better room that cost dubble at same price, so for us it was perfect value for money. The normal price is very expensive like at Flam. The location is amazing, the view perfect and it's better to take... More

We stayed one night in this hotel. It has multiple buildings, and I can only speak for the "Tingstova" building. We booked for a two person room. The hallways of the building are damped and smelly. The rooms were not cleaned properly. It has bunk beds giving it a cheap hostel feel. The walls are thin, making it a noisy... More

In spite of a few negative reviews we were very happy at the Gudvagen Fjrdtell! The room (No. 1 Viking) was large and clean but had no small convenient items (tissues, Shampoo, floor towel). A large part of the room ceiling is a window with a nice view but with no curtains so privacy and early morning light might be... More

Really enjoyed this place, it is a great concept combining a tourist goods shop with an exceptional concept in hotel rooms, the later more than outweighing the former. The location is of course magnificent. Do not be fooled by the apparent mass feeding model of the dining room, we had dinner there and it was very good as was the... More

Tasteless, impersonal vulgar and expensive. The reception it's in a huge dreadful wooden tent that works at the same time as a massive cafeteria with room for 700 people, as a tacky souvenir shop and as a living room. Most of the workers (if not all) are foreigners and some of them are disguised in viking style. There are two... More

Bare rooms furnished with thrift store furniture. Small bath with no place to hang or set anything and only a curtain separates the shower from rest of bathroom. Poor, small selection of breakfast food that you must wait for long periods for them to replenish. Dinner choices not good. Avoid the beef. Do take a ferry between Gudvanger and Flam... More

We stayed for a night at this hotel. We stayed in a Viking themed room which was pretty basic. The hotel is right beside the bus terminal and isn't particularly attractive. The room, although clean, was somewhat dated. On arrival we noticed a lot of tourist peering through the windows of the rooms. We made sure to shut the curtains!... More
