Bare rooms furnished with thrift store furniture. Small bath with no place to hang or set anything and only a curtain separates the shower from rest of bathroom. Poor, small selection of breakfast food that you must wait for long periods for them to replenish. Dinner choices not good. Avoid the beef. Do take a ferry between Gudvanger and Flam... More

We stayed for a night at this hotel. We stayed in a Viking themed room which was pretty basic. The hotel is right beside the bus terminal and isn't particularly attractive. The room, although clean, was somewhat dated. On arrival we noticed a lot of tourist peering through the windows of the rooms. We made sure to shut the curtains!... More

Others have described this hotel well. The room we stayed in was in a seperate chalet block not the themed rooms. The room was clean and comfortable, basic but has own shower (no tv!!) The setting is dramatic set in the end of the valley and the start point for fjord cruises. The restaurant was very good with local dishes... More

What a surprise . We arrived expecting nothing more then your average do. A very friendly Latvian girl was at reception who checked us in and upgraded us. Recommended we dine at their premises . The views around this hotel are Amazing . Waterfalls to the left , waterfalls to the right , Fjord front centre. Fantastic walk to Church... More

I was here almost on the day it opened for the season, so it was uncrowded and pleasant. Stay in the round building for the best rooms. What more can you really ask for? The most gorgeous fjord in front of you, behind towering mountains, a quaint town, giant waterfall, and a ferry which runs once a day in winter... More

this hotel is situated between 2 mountains and fjord is passing through it. you cannot expect a better location than this. the rooms are not great, but fine for a one night stay. the staff is helpful and breakfast is decent. worth staying a night at gudvangen.

This was both the most expensive and the worst place we stayed in in Norway. I gather they have some accommodation near the restaurant with glass ceilings etc but we were in a motel section further inland. The rooms were dark, dated and not particularly clean and amazingly in such a beautiful location you couldn't really see the mountains from... More

We really enjoyed this hotel. We stayed in a viking room, in the sod roof covered building. It was unique! We loved the skylight - it made the room so bright. The room itself was much larger than ordinary hotel rooms, and we enjoyed stretching out. The woodwork in the room was impressive. I was afraid that the area would... More

This hotel is at the ferry terminal and there really is no point stopping here overnight. We ended up leaving early for Flam which is far more enjoyable with a lot more to offer. We had a family room which was at best basic - no Viking beds for us! We paid £225 a night for this room and although... More

Location is perfect. Right by the port of the Fjord cruise, as part of Norway in a nutshell. Rooms are a little strange, with lots of animal skin. The staff is cold at best. No warmth, just cold politeness.
