To arrive at Dalen Hotel, by taking the boat “Henrik Ibsen” up Telemarkskanalen was the perfect start on our week-end. On the docks the hotel piccolo/chauffeur greeted us with warmth and a lot of fun-facts about Dalen. The hotel is very well preserved with in its original style both outside and indoors, and with new and fresh bathrooms. I took... More

The stay at Dalen Hotel is just as great as you expect when you see this classic building. Once you step inside you walk 100 years back in time and can enjoy a cognac by the fire place in the company of aristocrats and royalties (in the painting on the walls). Or you may enjoy the morning coffee on the... More

Amazing how it is at all possible to offer such magnificent hotel experience in a remote corner of Norway, surrounded by fjord and Mountains. Top Your trip by taking the more than 100 year old, totally refurbished luxury boat "Henrik Ibsen" through the Telemark Canal to arrive in style. The service, the friendliness and the Food tops most of my... More

We were a group of close friends who recently travelled from quaint Lunde to Dalen Hotel, on the fabulous M/S Henrik Ibsen, which sets an immediate "upper class" early 1900 atmosphere in perfect harmony with the magnificient Telemark scenery. Every detail of our journey gave tribute to old fashion best quality travel, with great personal service by dedicated and professional... More

From time to time, you're just lucky, and when I booked Dalen Hotel, I really had luck. The hotel dates back to 1894, and once you arrive at the hotel, you almost fell as you have been taken back 100 years in history. This was my first, but hopefully not my last visit be aware however that this is a... More

Dalen Hotel is probably the most beautiful hotel we've ever stayed in. It gets even better when you realize that the service they provide is excellent and the food in the restaurant should be awarded with a Michelin star ! The huge garden at the back of the hotel, has been brought back to it's former glory, when kings and... More

We stayed for 1 night and had the most incredible dinner at this beautiful hotel that was very good held in a traditional manner with a lot of traditional features from the late 1800. A must see if you travel in Norway. We will definitly return.

In this unique hotel, where time seems to have stood still for over 100 years, you will find yourself in a wonderful setting. You can enjoy a cup of coffee on the terrace, enjoying the stunning views, or eat a great meal in the magnificent restaurant. Nothing disturbed my good night's sleep in a comfortable bed, and the fresh, cool... More

From being in a serious state of decay many years ago to be one of the most exciting buildings in one of the most beautiful locations in Telemark, this place is not only worth seeing but should be mandatory if you have the chance to go there. Combined with the old water way, The Telemark Canal, that consists of 18... More

Dalen is a unique hotel. It is charming, comfortable with excellent service. The historical builiding is beautifully restored, an experience in itself. We stayed there one week-end, and enjoyed the park area surroundings of the hotel by the lake, and the fantastic Telemark nature. We recommend the Henrik Ibsen boat on the Telemark Canal to reach the hotel.
