If your idea of a fine retreat in the wine and chateau country of the Loire Valley consists of sharing a property with elderly tour groups alongside narcissistic American bicycle riders in Spandex then this is the place for you. Our room ( #2) was one of the two spacious tower rooms but it was quite dated, had only one... More

Took a 3 day side trip to the Loire and we were generally happy with Domaine de la Tortiniere. The property was lovely- how often can one sleep Ina chateau? We had the "Charme" room on the fourth floor (3rd floor in Europe). Hotel seemed empty and we would have preferred a lower floor for easier access, but this was... More

We stayed here for a long weekend, while exploring the Loire Valley (and finding some wines to take home). Immediately upon entering the grounds, we were impressed. A long drive, through a small wood leads you to the front of the hotel, more of a chateau really. The main building is beautiful, on top of a hill, overlooking an unspoilt... More

How often do you get to stay in a castle. This is 1000 years old, destroyed in 1500's and rebuilt. We stayed for two nights on our way back to Paris. Beautiful views, fine dining , and lots of history. We stayed in one of the turrets and it was very nice. Keep in mind this a castle not a... More

We booked a night in the chateau on a road trip from Spain to the UK off the back of the pictures alone, and for sure the chateau didn't disappoint in this respect. Three turrets, a stunning steeped terrace and views across the valley were fantastic. Now for the not so good:- Our room (at 130 euros) was in the... More

Dear Sir, Thank you for your recent stay and for your comments. We are sorry that our Domaine did not meet your expectations in spite of the constant efforts and professionalism we run our Château-Hôtel. We will just answer to some points in saying that we find the word “shabby” very strong for a hotel spending a lot of money... More

We booked this Chateau as a treat as part of wanderings through France and it was very enjoyable. I agree with a few other reviews that it is expensive but it is a quality establishment. We booked the cheapest room and were given a room in the garden (not the chateau itself) and it was comfortable and a little hot... More

The castle looks very charming from outside... we were driven, while we were booking, by its position on trip advisor as 1st. I do not agree! I paid 180 Euro for a 'charme' room and we were NOT even allocated IN the castle. They gave us a room in another building. The room had a direct access to a garden,... More

We have just finished our second visit in 6 months to this wonderful hotel. The settings is superb, the service us great and the food in the restaurant is amazing. Definitely the best cheese board in the world with 28 different cheeses on offer last night. Such a shame that it has rained on both our visits but that doesn't... More

very friendly staffs, nice dinner, the room we stayed were very spacious, the out door forest view is amazing, even thought the room you might be staying aren't actually the castle itself, but that didn't change the way i felt great choosing Domain de la Tortiniere, it was one of the best place i stay during my trip that year.

La Tortiniere is close to the main road South of Tours, very easy to access. Staff is really very nice, food is very good and prices are OK. The castle is very beautiful. A place where to go, for business or for leisure
